The Conspiracy of Baby-Switching novel Chapter 7

Madam Chapman realized something was wrong and reached out to stop me.

I took a step back and turned to leave, but Lucas suddenly ran over and hugged me tightly from behind.

"No way Violet, you can't leave me, I won't allow it."

"Let go of me, arsehole!"

"Not until you promise to make up with me."

I struggled and punched his arm, but Lucas didn't budge.

"She told you to let go of your fucking arm, didn't you hear her?"

A magnetic and authoritative voice rings out.

I looked up to see my boss, Gabriel, striding angrily towards us.

He forcefully broke Lucas's wrist and freed me from Lucas's confinement.

Lucas looked at him warily and asked with a strained neck, "You're Violet's boss, aren't you? This is a private matter between me and her, you're in no position to interfere!"

Gabriel hooked his lips in a smile and looked at Lucas like he was looking at rubbish.

"Who said this has nothing to do with me, Violet is my goddess, I've been secretly in love with her for a long time, you harassing my goddess is no different from harassing me."

"Security, blow him out, I don't want to see this clown in the company again."

Upon receiving the order, the security personnel immediately grabbed Lucas and dragged him out.

I let go of Gabriel's hand in a hurry and took a step back to bow and apologise to him.

"I'm sorry boss, it's my personal business that's affecting the company. And ...... thanks for helping me."

I hadn't expected Gabriel to put down his work and come out personally to help me with Lucas, much less make up such a lie about liking me in order to get Lucas to die ......

Gabriel nodded slightly, then smiled and said:

"Since I've done you such a great favour, would you like to stay and work for me for a while longer?"

I was stunned, I didn't realise that Gabriel's real intention was just to enable me to stay and continue working for him, but I didn't dare to promise him for too long, all I could say was, "Yes. I'll stay and work well until Christmas."

Since Lucas was kicked out, he texted me every day to apologize and asked me to give him another chance.

But I didn't give him any response.

And just like that, Christmas came.

My last time at Ferrara Media, the Christmas party at the office.

What a prick!

I'm going to get going, my eyes linger on the elevator and I just…I want to see my office one last time. I don't know why, but I do. I take the elevator to the top floor and make my way to my desk.

I look out over the view, it's so different at night up here, the lights of New York light up the entire skyline.

Unlike the busy and bustling daytime.

It's peaceful.

Serene.

"Couldn't even say goodbye," I mutter to myself as I cross my arms and look out over the view.

"Goodbye," a deep voice says.

I spin to see Gabriel sitting in the darkened corner of the room.

He has an amber drink in his hand, his elbows resting on his thighs as he watches me.

"Gabriel," I gasp, "I…didn't see you."

He stands and puts his drink down; his eyes are dark and dangerous and he walks over to me and stands so that his face is an inch away from mine.
