99 Times for Alpha’s Bestie novel Chapter 194

As we neared the pack, Lucien called, “Claire-bear, where are you now?”

His low, warm voice, laced with a magnetic quality, seeped into my ears, making half of my body feel weak and my ears tinge with a pink hue.

Just as I was about to answer, Liyah snatched the phone. “Reporting, Lucien! Your Claire-bear is almost at the packhouse! Come out and receive your woman, stat!”

Liyah shouted, instantly shattering the tingling atmosphere.

Lucien chuckled over the phone. “Okay, I’m coming out.”

Liyah pushed her luck. “I hope you don’t mind the permanent third wheel, Alpha.”

Lucien replied coolly, “You know you’re a third wheel, yet you still tag along?”

Liyah paused. “Can’t I just be craving a meal with the reclusive Alpha?”

Lucien, surprisingly, was accommodating this time. “You’re welcome. The call ended, and I felt a mix of relief and nervousness as I spotted Lucien’s tall figure emerging not far from my car.

The large truck rolled to a stop at the packhouse, and workers began to hustle, efficiently unloading new furniture with the kind of teamwork that spoke of familiarity and camaraderie.

Lucien’s outfit today was strikingly different from his usual attire. He wore a simple white T-shirt that clung to his frame, paired with faded blue jeans and crisp white sneakers, exuding an aura of youthful vibrancy that was hard to ignore.

As the sunlight kissed his face, which often bore a ghostly pallor, I caught a fleeting glimpse of a dazzling, handsome university heartthrob—he seemed a decade younger, radiating warmth and charm.

“Oh my goddess! Lookie-Lookie! Claire, you’ve hit the jackpot! The hottest Alpha in Alberta is all over you!”

Liyah shook my arm enthusiastically, her excitement bubbling over, making it impossible for her to contain her joy.

“Liyah, please! Calm down! You’re going to draw attention to us, and it’s so embarrassing!” I whispered urgently, feeling my cheeks grow warmer. But Liyah was already beyond listening to my pleas.

With an exuberant leap, she flung the car door open and bounded over to Lucien’s side, her face lit up with a radiant smile. “Alpha! You should keep this style from now on! Claire just said she absolutely loves it!”

I wanted to sink into the ground, overwhelmed by the heat of embarrassment.

Lucien, with his trademark confident stride, approached me directly, his presence commanding and reassuring.

Just then, the front door of the packhouse swung open with a dramatic whoosh, and a young man clad in athletic wear and basketball shoes burst out, a basketball in hand.

He jogged over to Liyah, a cheeky grin plastered on his face. “Liyah, what’s the score for my outfit today? Do you like it?”

Liyah’s eyes slowly roamed over the smirking guy, and with a dismissive roll of her eyes, she quipped, “Our Alpha is handsome. You, at best, are just tacky.”

No sooner had the words left her mouth than she turned and bolted away, laughter bubbling forth like a fountain.

“What? No way, that’s bullshit! Liyah!” The young man’s mock outrage echoed as he chased after her, his playful indignation ringing through the air.

The sounds of their laughter and playful banter sliced through the stillness enveloping the Crown of Thornes pack, a welcome interruption to the tension.

By the car, Lucien had stepped closer, his hand extended toward me, an invitation wrapped in warmth.

“Let’s go home, Claire-bear.” His voice was low and intimate, each word resonating deeply within my heart, igniting a flutter of nervous excitement.

I linked my arm with his, my heart racing as we approached the imposing main door of the packhouse that had once been a source of fear and uncertainty for me.

“Have they taken care of all the old furniture?” I asked softly, my voice barely above a whisper.

“I had Bart store them in the warehouse,” he replied, his tone steady.

“Oh,” I said, my steps faltering as doubt crept in. “And—how is your father now? Do you think he’ll recognize me?”
