Adelaide stood there, arms tightly crossed against her chest, her body shaking uncontrollably from the cold that seeped into her bones. “She swallowed so much water. We need to check her lungs thoroughly. Doctor Digby has to monitor her for a few days. There’s no way she can return to the Bloodmoon Pack right now; if she does, she’s going to completely crash. Even if Simon is genuinely remorseful at this moment, Rosemary won’t let up.”
As soon as Tamara was rushed into the Digby Medical Center, Adelaide wasted no time. She approached the medical team with a determined look, instructing them to seal off the trauma area. Her voice was firm and unyielding as she made it abundantly clear: no members of the Bloodmoon Pack were to enter, especially not anyone from the Alpha family, unless Tamara gave her explicit approval.
The Bloodmoon Alpha family arrived shortly after, but the security team at Digby Medical Center halted them in their tracks at the entrance.
The reason was straightforward: they were facing an emergency; the night ward was secured, and everyone else needed to vacate the premises.
Simon, however, was beside himself with panic. He repeatedly attempted to push past the security line, his desperation palpable as he insisted he needed to see his mate.
When he refused to back down, the security team intervened, physically escorting him to the outer safe zone.
Ulrik stood by, hesitant to escalate the situation, while the remaining Bloodmoon Alphas realized they had no authority to challenge the security personnel.
Then, Isaiah finally broke the silence.
His voice was weary, yet it carried the weight of someone who had to shoulder responsibility. “We’ll head back for now. She’s safest right here.”
Isaiah had always been the quiet one in the Bloodmoon Pack, never taking sides during family disputes.
But today was different. The situation had spiraled out of control, involving the Capital Guard and coming alarmingly close to tragedy, and the medical center was resolute in its stance.
He felt the need to assert himself.
Standing there, gripping the damp pawn ticket, his expression was blank as he finally turned to leave.
His mind was a whirlwind of shock, anxiety, and simmering anger.
“Ulrik just got promoted. Is Tamara really willing to jeopardize the future of the Bloodmoon Pack with this reckless act?”
“Did she think she could enjoy the good times while avoiding the tough moments?”
“Mom’s sick and a bit irritable; can’t she show a little understanding?”
“Gloria’s pregnant, so what if she spends a little more? Why does Tamara always have to complain about finances?”

The more he thought about it, the more Simon’s stomach twisted into tight knots.

He recalled the slap from earlier that day—the way he had forced Tamara to apologize to Rosemary right afterward.
Perhaps that had been the final straw.
When Tamara regained consciousness, she was coughing violently, struggling against the water that had filled her lungs.
Since Adelaide had saved her and Paisley had brought her in, Doctor Digby took it upon himself to personally check her vital signs, ensuring there would be no lasting damage to her lungs or nerves.
