A Life Beyond Limits (Jack Holland) novel Chapter 573

When Emily called, Jack happened to be in his dorm having lunch.

With Genesis Games' public listing approaching and Haven Connect's user base expanding rapidly, Jack had been focused on work.

However, as employee numbers grew, a critical issue emerged. Many staff wasted hours commuting daily—a massive drain on productivity. To solve this while boosting morale, Jack devised a plan. Haven would purchase real estate.

Not only would that grow company assets, but providing employee housing would ease stress, raise productivity, and foster loyalty. This was great news for the team.

That 30-acre plot Wendy had transferred to Haven initially seemed perfect for housing. But reality soon hit. After accounting for the office space, little land remained, and construction timelines were uncertain.

With staff numbers ballooning, waiting wasn't an option. Apart from his daily activities, Jack now scoured property listings near Haven's HQ, determined to handpick homes for his team.

Halfway through his research, Emily's call came through. She hurried upstairs with the thermos after learning that Jack was in the dorm. Her frequent visits lately had unsettled Jack.

But through Emily's actions, Jack could see both the helplessness of her past decisions and the sincerity of her current efforts.

Though he still carried resentment over her abandonment years ago, her persistent attempts to reconnect had gradually softened the edges of that old wound.

Although Jack didn't say it aloud, he had begun to gradually accept Emily. Yet even as he quietly acknowledged her, Helena remained his true mother.

Helena, a woman of simple means and extraordinary resilience, had raised him through tireless toil and sacrifice, giving everything she had to meet his needs.

A knock came at the door while Jack was lost in these thoughts.

Not wanting his roommate to witness the encounter, Jack guided Emily to the laundry room. There she stood, accompanied by an elegant assistant holding a pot and bowl.

Seeing Jack's puzzled expression, Emily explained, "I made you some bone broth today. The kind you loved as a child. Would you like to try it?"

Jack was stunned. "Did you come all this way just to deliver soup?" he asked coldly.

Emily nodded eagerly, her eyes brimming with hope. "You used to like this bone broth as a child. All these years, I never stopped perfecting the recipe. I wanted to make sure it tastes great. I specially made it for you today."
