Chapter 7
Vince’s heart skipped a beat, but he quickly regained his composure. He furrowed his brows.
“A coincidence. The betrothal stands. We depart in five days. She wouldn’t leave now,
The doctor entered.
log. Do not seek me.‘
“Lord, Lady Seraphina left a message : ” *I journey south. May we both find joy.
The doctor’s voice felt like thunder in Vince’s ears.
Never before had he shown such emotion, but now, he staggered, almost unable to stay standing

So that was what Seraphina’s farewell had meant-“May yo
A faint red flush spread across his face, and his lips trembled with suppressed emotion.
“No!”
How could Seraphina, the woman he had almost lost his life to save, die so easily?
The guard spoke with regret.
The messenger said they saw her carriage heading in this direction. They found a woman’s body… with her papers. The odds
Vince’s face went pale. His voice was calm, but his body trembled slightly.
Bring me my fastest horse.
Since his hand had been injured, he hadn’t ridden a horse
He always said he didn’t like it anymore.
But the truth was, he feared he could no longer ride as he once did–fearing that his hand might not even have the strength to hold the reins. But now, mounted on a horse, all he could think was how he wished he could go faster. Faster
Vince reached the edge of the cliff where the body was kept.

Vince’s pain was so intense, it took all his strength to stay on the horse,
Seraphina had been right under his nose every day. How had he not noticed her leaving?
Dismounting, Vince walled toward the body, every step feeling as if he was falling into an endless abyss. Sweat beaded on his forehead.

His trembling hand howered over the cloth for a long time before he finally pulled it away.
Underneath was a stranger’s fare.
The tension in his body evaporated, and he collapsed to the ground, laughing
It was a false alarm, and it felt strangely relieving.
But as he laughed, his nose stung
He had cared for Seraphina so much, far more than he ever realized.
Returning to the estate, Vince gathered his servants, the doctor, and supplies, preparing a comfortable carriage.
Seraphina had just given heart blood. She couldn’t endure such a long journey.
He would gather everything, then hurry to find her
But when he arrived at the gr

hall, he was surrounded by his guards.
His father, Lord, stood there, his face ashen. With a slap, he struck Vince
“Fool! You took her heart’s blood for that harlot? Her health is fragile–how could you abuse her like this?! Do you even know that it was Guinevere who
entangled many of the court officials? If you have any decency, go and bring Seraphina back, and marry her!”
