As I made my way from the kitchen, balancing a steaming bowl of soup in my hands, my eyes caught the fleeting figure of Alpha Sebastian slipping into my bedroom. Time seemed to freeze, and my heart plummeted into my stomach.
“Sebastian! Get out of there!” I yelled, panic surging through me as I hastily placed the bowl down on the carpet, the soup sloshing perilously close to the edge.
My hands trembled uncontrollably, as if I were caught in the throes of a seizure, and I felt the hot liquid splash against my skin, yet the sting barely registered in my mind as I raced toward the bedroom.
But it was too late.
By the time I reached the threshold, Alpha Sebastian was already crouched beside my bed, his attention fixated on a tiny kitten that had inadvertently pressed the power button of my new “personal massager.” The poor little creature was backed against the wall, its frantic mews mingling with the buzzing sound of my vibrating device.
And there it lay—the bright pink-blue vibrator, shaped like a discreet little bird, humming innocently on the floor next to the shopping bag, its packaging glaringly visible.
A wave of embarrassment washed over me, and I felt as if my very soul had detached from my body. My vision swam as a rush of blood flooded my cheeks.
Alpha Sebastian’s brows knitted together in confusion as he studied the vibrating object, then glanced at the box with its explicit cover image, and finally back at the device itself.
“Cecilia, what is this?” His cool, measured voice sliced through my mortification like a knife.
I was utterly speechless, my mind blanking out completely.
I opened my eyes wide, only now realizing I had shut them in an attempt to block out the embarrassment.
Alpha Sebastian gestured toward the pale blue bird still buzzing on the floor. “Um, that’s—” I stammered, pressing my lips together tightly before attempting to explain again, “It’s a portable muscle relaxer. For sore muscles. You know, like shoulders, arms, back… calves.”
“Ah, sounds convenient,” he replied, his tone even and unyielding.
“Yes, yes, very convenient. Because it’s small,” I babbled, desperately trying to maintain some semblance of composure.
“Small but powerful, by the looks of it. Rather well-made,” he observed, bending down to pick it up.
My eyes widened in horror as I lunged forward, dropping to my knees to snatch it before he could.
In my frantic haste, I slid across the floor, managing to grasp it just as his fingertips brushed against it.
There we were—him bent down, me on my knees, with a frightened kitten and a vibrating “massage device” awkwardly positioned between us.
I looked up, and our eyes locked.
His gaze darkened slowly, taking on an intimate quality that felt like the shadows of night wrapping around us.
After what felt like an eternity, the corner of his mouth twitched into a smile, and he murmured, “Don’t panic, little mate.”
Heat flooded my face, igniting a fire that spread from my cheeks to my ears and down my neck.
My heart raced more violently than the vibrator in my hand.
I quickly lowered my head, fumbling with the power button while shoving the box and instructions back into the shopping bag.
Thank the Moon Goddess that the kitten had only managed to drag out one item!
Alpha Sebastian straightened, his eyes still dark and intense as he watched my frantic movements. “Take your time. No need to be nervous. If you say it’s a massage device, I believe you.”
I hesitated, feeling overwhelmed, unable to decipher the underlying tone of his words.
Quickly, I shoved the bag under the bed and stood up. “I’ll take the kitten. You should go eat.”
I reached out to take the small creature from his arms, desperate to change the subject.
Alpha Sebastian walked out, picking up the soup I had abandoned on the carpet before settling himself at the dining table, eating with an infuriating calmness.
I remained in the living room, staring at his back, replaying his words in my mind. *If you say it’s a massage device, I believe you.*
Wait a minute. The implication was clear—he knew exactly what it was but was willing to pretend otherwise.
He knew. The Alpha knew I had a vibrator.
I buried my face in my hands, mortified beyond belief.
“Cecilia, I’m finished eating,” his voice floated from the dining area, breaking through my spiraling thoughts.
Taking a deep breath to steady myself, I got up and approached him. “Alpha, I’ll take care of the kitten tonight. You should go home and rest. Sleep well. Goodnight.”
Alpha Sebastian raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his gaze. “Why not wish me good morning while you’re at it?”
I stared at him for a few seconds, searching for the right words. “I’m tired.”
“Didn’t you agree to take care of the kitten? How can you do that if you’re tired? Besides, I didn’t bring her bed. Perhaps I should take her back and let her roam free in the garden. Liam will be back tomorrow anyway.”
