Accardi (Genevieve and Matteo) by Allison Franklin novel Chapter 134

Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Four

“Again,” Matteo whispered against her neck. His hands pulsed against her hips.

“We only have a few minutes left,” Gen whispered with a shake of her head.

His lips came into view and they lifted to show his teeth as he smiled down at her. “One more time. It’ll make me feel better,” Matteo begged, bringing her

body closet.

“I’ve done it four times already.”

“Fifth time’s the charm.”

Gen rolled her eyes and sighed. She finished fastening the last button on his jumpsuit and placed her palms flat against his chest. “I won’t go anywhere with

O’Brien unless I know Alessio is with Michele.”

“Thank you,” he said, his smile tugging higher. “Was that so hard?”

Gen stood up on her toes to kiss him. His arms wound around her waist, holding her up when the kitchen timer went off. Gen looked toward the timer bouncing on the table, willing it to turn back its mechanism and give them five more minutes. Matteo nudged her chin back toward him and sealed his lips over hers. She ran her hands up his chest and over his shoulders. Then the door opened.

“Dammit,” Matteo whispered a moment before he was pulled away by a gruff looking guard whose nose resembled that of an unhealthy pig.

Matteo smiled big at her as the pig-guard roughly twisted his arms and handcuffed his wrists.

“Be good,” Genevieve warned her husband whose eyes were scouring her body as if to memorize her curves for when he couldn’t sleep.

“No promises, Weakness,” Matteo answered with a wink. The guard turned him toward the door. “One more time.”

Gen rolled her eyes at his back. “I won’t meet Michele unless Alessio is there.”

“I love you,” he called over his shoulder.

“I love you too.”

“Shut the fuck up, Accardi,” the guard hissed, shoving him forward.

“Oh, come on, Piggy. Don’t ruin the visit with my wife,” Matteo whined as the guard set him down on a bench.

Gen walked down the hall where Leo was waiting for her. The guard at the door stood up to pat her down before she left. She could still see Matteo from this vantage point and gave him a little wave. Then she noticed the pig guard strutting toward her.

“I got this one, Bernie,” the guard announced.

Warning bells rang in her mind at the way his eyes ate up her appearance. She looked wearily toward Matteo who had lost his smile and was watching the interaction with a suspicious glare.

“Take off your coat,” the guard said, donning a pair of latex gloves.

Gen crossed her arms. “I don’t have to take my coat off. They didn’t make me do that on my way in.”

“She’ll leave the coat on,” Leo agreed.

“Fucking right!” Matteo called.

Gen kept her eyes on the guard until he told her to turn around. She pivoted and held her arms out as instructed. She felt his hand run over the tops of her arms and under. Then she felt his hands on her sides, skimming down. Gen took a step forward and turned to give him a look of warning. He rolled his eyes and motioned for her to put her arms out. Again he felt her arms and then moved down to her sides. He went all the way down her body, slowly. She could feel her lip curl in disgust as he stood back straight. Then his hands slightly cupped her breasts.

Leo grabbed the back of the guards head, holding it there so Gen could smack the ever-loving-shit out of him.

“What the hell was that?” she yelled.

“Yeah, Donnie, that was uncalled for,” the other guard mentioned.

Donnie just smirked, still being held by his hair. “Payback for my buddies.”

Leo released the guard with a shove. Gen turned to her husband who was sitting terrifyingly still. His dark, narrowed eyes weren’t on her, but the man who had just touched her. As the guard made his way back to Matteo, he seemed completely oblivious to what he’d just done. He motioned for Matteo to get up. Matteo merely stared up at him, his jaw set, his shoulders completely rigid. The guard motioned again for him to stand.

The guard leaned down to get in Matteo’s face. Her husband blinked and then his head shot forward. She could hear the crack of his skull plowing into the guard’s. Donnie went down but before his body could hit the floor, Matteo flung out his hands and twisted. The shackles around his wrist were now being used to strangle the pig-faced man who touched what didn’t belong to him. It appeared the stunt in the cafeteria hadn’t done much to show what Matteo Accardi was capable of. Perhaps it really was Frankie who did the major damage. The guard beside Gen and Leo took off to help his coworkers try to break Matteo’s hold. While they pulled at his clothing, he planted his knee in the guard’s back and pushed, tightening the chain around the man’s neck.

“He’s never going to get out of here. Is he?” Gen asked, looking at Leo.

Leo laughed and turned for the door, evidently having had enough of the entertainment. “Not if you keep visiting him.”

Gen watched the confrontation until a guard, clearly the smarter of the bunch, came in from the left like a linebacker in the NFL to tackle Matteo. She heard a loud grunt with his impact and a sharp inhale of air amid the shouting. She shook her head as five guards finally succeeded in dragging her husband down

the hallway.

Gen and Leo followed the signs back toward the lobby.

“Did you have fun?” Leo asked, his voice teasing.

“Oh so much fun. You know how exciting conjugal visits can be,” Gen replied, sarcasm dripping from every word.

Leo chuckled. “I do actually.”

“You do?” Gen asked, eyeing him as he held the first lobby door for her.

“Mhmm, back when Lucy and I got together she was arrested until I could convince the guy she assaulted to drop the charges.”

“Lucy? Lucy assaulted a guy?”

The pair crossed the lobby, ignoring the curious onlookers. “Yep, nearly gouged his eyes out with a steak knife when he interrupted our first date.”

Gen gaped at him as they passed through the front door. “How did you get the guy to drop the charges?”

Leo shrugged. “Told him I’d quit if he didn’t.”

Gen stopped walking. “Wow. Here I was thinking he was exaggerating how much she hates him.”

Leo chuckled darkly. “There is no exaggeration, I can assure you.”

Gen started walking beside him again and just as they came to the curb a black SUV pulled up. The only problem, it wasn’t their SUV.

“Heyo!” O’Brien called from the rolled down window of the passenger seat, his blond hair glinting in the afternoon light.

“What… O’Brien? What are you doing here?” Gen asked, with her arm held back in warning to Leo.

“Came to get you for the meeting with Michele,” he announced.

She glanced at Leo whose face had turned to stone. “You said the meeting was tomorrow.”

He stepped out of the SUV and gave her a big shrug. “Michele’s being a bit neurotic and paranoid so he asked me to change times in case I was ‘planning

something,” he finished while using his fingers as air quotes. “He’s expecting us in thirty minutes.”

Don’t meet Michele unless Alessio is there. Don’t meet Michele unless Alessio is there. Don’t meet Michele unless Alessio is there.

“Okay, Leo, did you need to make a call before we leave?” Gen asked, hoping she was able to communicate her order through her eyes.

Leo opened his mouth but it was O’Brien who spoke. “Actually, your fellow won’t be coming with us.”

“What?” Both Gen and Leo asked at the same time.

O’Brien put his hands in his pockets as if it were obvious. “I told you Michele was only letting me bring one person. I’m bringing you rather than my second.

Leaving me completely vulnerable, I’d like to add. I hope you are stronger than you look if shit hits the fan.”

Gen looked to Leo. “What do I do?” she whispered.

Leo lifted his right shoulder. “Go? You handled Michele well enough last time.”

“I almost got shot in the head last time.”

“What are the chances of that happening twice in one month? O’Brien will look after you.”

“Matteo said O’Brien is Michele’s son,” she whisper-yelled.

Leo’s eyes widened and moved to where O’Brien was leaning back against his car. “Him? Really? I don’t see it.”

“What do you mean, you don’t see it?” she hissed.

“O’Brien is a scoundrel but devious enough to pull this off? I don’t think so.” Leo ran a hand through his jet black hair as he seemingly calculated O’Brien’s level of threat. “Galante’s confidant told him that? Don’t you think he could have lied?”

“To Matteo?”

Leo sighed. “I just don’t see it.”

“You need to call Alessio. Do you have my tracker information?”

Leo nodded. “I can follow the SUV and when you get…”

“What are you whispering about?” O’Brien asked, startling Gen as he suddenly appeared beside them.

“Nothing,” they answered together.

O’Brien smiled wide. His finger pointed between the body guard and his charge. “You two are funny. Let’s go, Mrs. Accardi.”

“Coming.” She gave Leo one last look and he sent her a nod of understanding.

Gen followed O’Brien to the car. He opened the back passenger side for her. At the door, she hesitated. Don’t meet Michele unless Alessio is there.

“Ah, fuck, here we go,” she mumbled under her breath as she got into O’Brien’s car without any protection.
