Accardi (Genevieve and Matteo) by Allison Franklin novel Chapter 91

Chapter NinetyOne

Genevieve stayed silent as Matteo drove. He was no longer reckless. He stopped when a light turned red, used his turn signal, nodded at a passing cop cruiser. The anger was still there. She could see it in the way he gripped the steering wheel and closed his eyes at the stoplights. She wanted to explain what really drove her to go to meet Michele, but knew he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to hear it.

Matteo made a turn she hadn’t been expecting, one that led them away from their apartment. A couple minutes later, the bright lights of a hospital had her blinking until her eyes adjusted. Matteo pulled into the garage below the building and got out. A moment later her own door opened and she stepped out without question. Matteo walked away and she followed. She clutched the jacket still around her frame as they ascended the stairwell to the third floor. He was a few steps ahead of her as they walked down the fluorescent hallway.

Geneveive glanced around, unsure what they were doing here if not to see Beatrice. This floor was for nonemergent cases, a classification Beatrice clearly did not fall under. Matteo walked up to a nurses station, causing the nurses gossiping there to practically fall off their chairs and the counter they were lounging on to give him their full attention. One or two of them looked red enough to get work as a model for the effects of a bad sunburn while another bit her lip and dropped her glasses hoping to look demure.

I’m here to see

Dr. Richards, the demure one piped in. Gen couldn’t see Matteo’s face but she knew he looked unimpressed as the nurse dropped the act and swallowed

hard. Right this way, Mr. Accardi.

The nurse walked around the counter and started down the hall. Genevieve followed after and as she passed Matteo she felt his fingers skim down her arm.

She stopped and closed her eyes, fighting back tears as she realized how desperately she needed just one kind touch from him. His fingers wove through

hers and tugged. Geneveive’s legs started working again and she allowed him to pull her along down the hall. She could hear the envious whispers mixed

with nasty insinuations the remaining nurses began whispering as they walked away. She didn’t care. She knew it was something she would have to face for

the rest of her life. A woman with a gorgeous man like Matteo Accardi had to expect a bit of hateful jealousy. She would have a bit of her own if the roles

were reversed.

You can wait in here while I fetch Dr. Richards for you,the nurse instructed with a wave of her hand into an empty room. There’s a gown you can put on

in the top drawer of the dresser over there.

Matteo nodded and released Gen’s hand so he could walk toward the dresser. Gen shut the door and fiddled nervously with her hands while Matteo pulled a

gown out. He scrutinized the small piece of linen as he walked back over to her. Gen shucked off his jacket and traded it for the gown. She reached behind

herself for the zipper. Her face started to heat as the zipper seemed just out of reach. It had been easy enough to get on by reaching over her shoulder but it

didn’t quite work when it needed to be pulled down. Matteo threw his jacket to the armchair by the bed and turned her around with a gentle pressure on her waist.

I should have killed him,he muttered under his breath as the zipper slid down, revealing her bare back.

I got it on by myself earlier, she explained.

That’s good for both of you,Matteo grumbled.

She waited for his hand to leave her back. There was a long beat of silence that stretched on while one of his hands firmly held her waist and the other grazed the bare skin of her lower back.

Matteo

You can let go of it,he whispered.

One shrug of her shoulders sent the dress pooling to the ground around her heels. She heard him take in a sharp breath causing her pussy to clench and her body to shiver. It had been almost three days since she felt his hands on her bare skin. His finger hooked around the strap of her thong and slid down. Then

there was a knock.

Gen squeaked and Matteo’s fist clenched, straining the fabric of the thong.

Don’t fucking come in,Matteo warned.

Oh, sure, just let me know when you’re ready,a male voice said on the other side.

Gen quickly shoved her arms into the sleeves of the gown while Matteo laced up the back. She turned to face him and he nodded his head toward the bed.

He lent a hand so that she could climb up. He then bent and slid the heels from her feet. He glided his hand over the bottom of her feet, temporarily

relieving the soreness there to the point where her eyes rolled to the back of her head.

You can come in,Matteo announced.

He gathered her dress and heels before taking a few steps back and sinking into the armchair. A moment later, probably for good measure, a middleaged

man with glasses and a nicely trimmed salt and pepper beard poked his head in. He smiled, lighting up his gray eyes that looked silver under the fluorescent

lighting.

Hello! You must be Miss Sinclair. I’m Dr. Richards, the man said, stepping in and extending his hand. Gen took his frigid hand in hers and shook it while

returning a small smile of her own.

Genevieve,Gen told him.

Miss Sinclair,Matteo corrected.

Dr. Richards glanced over at Matteo sitting in the chair. Hello, Mr. Accardi. Glad to see you again with a bit less blood this time,Dr. Richards said with a

nod as he walked to the sink and washed his hands. So according to your call we’re implanting a subdermal chip today?

Gen’s brow knit together and she looked to Matteo. He was already watching her, gauging her reaction. He nodded once in response.

*Sounds great. We’re prepping it now. It’s an outpatient, so shouldn’t take too long,Dr. Richards began. He moved back to the table, sanded his hands

together and reached out to prod Gen’s neck. We will start by

What are you doing?Matteo asked, an odd cadence to his voice.

Dr. Richards continued prodding Gen’s lymph nodes but glanced back to look at Matteo. Just a routine exam. We want to make sure everything is in order as we’ll have to give a local antisthetic and

I want a female doctor to do the procedure,Matteo said, his eyes focused on the way Dr. Richardshands had moved to her upper chest.

Dr. Richards looked between Gen and Matteo. Mr. Accardi I can assure you I will be very professional and my only objective is to ensure the safety of yourAgain his eyes moved between the pair. Friend here.

She’s my fiance,Matteo corrected, causing Gen’s eyebrow to cock up at him. I want a woman or I’ll go to another hospital.

Dr. Richards sighed. Mr. Accardi, we are the only hospital equipped to

And why is that, Blake? How much money has my family donated to this hospital? Enough to have it renamed, wouldn’t you say? Now are you going to take your hands off my woman and get a female doctor or will I have to physically remove them myself?

Dr. Richardshands dropped from Gen’s collarbone and he took a step back. It may take a few minutes to find someone.

We have time,Matteo said, settling back in his chair and interlacing his fingers in his lap.

Dr. Richards gave her a smile full of pity. It was nice to meet you, Miss Sinclait.

You as well, she said with a nod of thanks.
