Maybelline took a mouthful of the drug the housekeeper had given her and swallowed it without a second thought. Almost instantly, her stomach burned like it was on fire. Her body trembled as an uncontrollable wave of gas escaped her. Again and again.

Her legs felt heavy, her arms weak, her whole body sinking as though her strength was being drained away.

Fear gripped her chest. She wanted to scream, to cry out for help, but her voice wouldn’t come. Her lips parted, yet no sound left them.

What was happening to her?

Could the food have been poisoned? No, that was impossible. Tonight, only the Madman’s food was supposed to be poisoned. Hughes had assured her of that. Then why was she the one suffering like this?

For hours, she had waited, waited to hear a scream, a cry, some noise that confirmed the Madman’s death. But there was nothing. No sound. No news. Nothing at all.

Instead, she was the one in agony.

Penny should be crying. She should be in pain. She should have turned into a widow by now.

"What’s happening to us?" David groaned from the floor, his voice trembling. His stomach was so swollen it looked as if it might explode at any moment.

Maybe he should never have followed his wife into this madness. Maybe revenge wasn’t worth this. Ever since he stepped foot in this house, he had felt strange, as though unseen hands were tugging at his life.

"I don’t know..." May whispered, her breath shallow. "But I feel like I’m dying."

"Me too," David panted. Another foul sound burst from him, leaving him weaker than before. It felt like each fart sucked the life out of him, pulling away what little energy he had left.

Had the housekeeper poisoned them as well?

With trembling arms, May tried to push herself up. She thought of Ariana, of calling for her, of at least trying to get help. But her body betrayed her, too heavy, too weak.

Then, suddenly, her phone rang. The sharp sound cut through the suffocating silence.

With shaking hands, she reached for it and glanced at the caller ID.

Abby.

May’s frown softened into a small smile. Abby wouldn’t be calling without a reason. Maybe... maybe this was it. Maybe this was the news she had been waiting for.

Maybe the Madman was finally dead.

But why didn’t she get the new first hand? Did the housekeeper forget to tell her about it because of the Chaos going on?

Abby wanted to be there. She wanted to be present so that she could accuse Hughes of killing the madman. If she does, then she wouldn’t have to worry about anyone exposing her evil deeds.

She answered the call immediately. "I know already Abby, what I don’t understand is why I haven’t been given a feedback yet." May said calmly.

"He’s badly injured May. Those people, the... They almost killed him." Abby cried from the other end.

She couldn’t stand seeing her only son and child this hurt because of her. She wanted to know how things were going in the Adkin’s mansion. At the return of Maybelline, the madman should be dead by now.

It’s not like it was hard to kill him. He is mad and useless.

"Why didn’t they finish him off? We don’t have time to be making silly mistakes. I asked her to finish him off." May said. No wonder the stupid housekeeper couldn’t give her a feedback, because the madman survived.

That’s the last thing they wanted. Right now, Osvaldo’s soul was tied to Chris. It is either one person go down for the other and the only person that’s going to go down is the madman.

"Asked who?" Abby asked sounding confused.

"The housekeeper of course." May said.

"You asked what housekeeper to kill Chris? What is going on May?" Abby asked.

"Wait! Did you mean Chris all this time?"

"Yes. What we’re you talking about?" Abby asked her friend.

"About the madman but it doesn’t matter. What happened to Chris?" May asked brushing off her question. She wanted to know why Abby sounded so worried.

"He was attacked May. Chris was badly beaten. Things are getting really dangerous now. We have just a week before we all get killed, have you killed the madman yet?"

"I... I should take my leave now master. I need to watch the Willard’s." Hughes announced and started walking away. When she reached the door...

"Hughes." She turned to meet the pair of golden eyes.

"No one should hear of this. It never happened" He said for the housekeeper to nod. Hughes opened the door and walked away.

What did her master mean by it never happened? Did he not want the child?

But there’s nothing they could do now. Her miss Penny was already pregnant.

Maybe Osvaldo wants to be the one to announce it first. Hughes smiled. Of course, no father would want to hurt their child.

So what if her master doesn’t want anyone to know? Barnaby wasn’t just anyone. He was like a brother to her. Her family.

She needed to confined in him. She needed someone to speak with. She couldn’t keep this to herself, and was burying of joy.

When Hughes reached the maids quarters she walked straight to Barnaby’s room.

The older man just got out of the shower, water still dripping from his body. His towel barely hung on his waist when his secret crush stepped in.

"What the hell, do you not knock anymore?" He placed his hands on his chest, hiding his nipples from her eyes.

Barnaby was why you’d call a ’40years old virgin’. One who despite his age, has never been with a woman before.

"Please, Barnaby. I’ve seen younger, hotter guys. You’re not exactly poster material... I won’t be fainting anytime soon."

"What do you want?" Barnaby stood straight, hands still on his breast as he stared at her. He tried his best to hide the little jealousy bubbling in his chest.

"Miss Penny is pregnant."

Barnaby froze. He gave a small cough, almost choking on his own breath, before forcing a stiff smile.

"P... pregnant?" he muttered, his voice cracking just a little.

Barnaby paced around the room shaking his head. That cannot be possible, his new Miss cannot be pregnant now.

His master was not yet ready to be a father...
