"I donāt even like you in any way!" Maybelline screamed, her voice cracking with fury. "If you think my little party was to settle our feud, then youāre a fool, Penelope! How dare you do this to me?" Tears of rage welled in her eyes as her body shook with anger.
She spun suddenly, her gaze burning into the man beside Penny. The so-called madman. Osvaldo stood tall and steady, his golden eyes alive with fire. He looked healthier than ever, broad-shouldered, strong, with a faint smile tugging at his lips as if her suffering was nothing more than an enjoyment to him.
This man is supposed to be dead. He should be the one suffering not her.
"You!" she hissed. "Youāre supposed to be dead! Why are you still alive?" Her voice rose into a shriek.
Her hands trembled as she grabbed the nearest vase. With a sharp crash, it shattered against the marble floor, glass scattering across the room like tiny shards of anger. Breathing hard, Maybelline bent, snatched a jagged piece, and without a thought, lunged at Osvaldo.
Her dress strained against her bloated figure, her movements desperate and wild. The maids gasped, frozen in horror as Maybelline charged forward, glass flashing in her grip, her face twisted with hate.
But Osvaldo didnāt flinch. He didnāt even move. His smile deepened, calm and unbothered, like a king watching a powerless subject act out her last desperate trick.
When May reached near him, she paused with the pieces of glass in her hands, then suddenly, she dropped to the floor.
"Honey." David rushed to his wifeās limb form.
"What did you do to her?" David glared at Penny and her madman who didnāt even lift a finger.
"We clearly did nothing to her. She just fainted." Penny said calmly. She was still hurt by her motherās words and but she still cared enough to help pick Maybelline from the floor.
She had no idea why Osvaldo punished her family. What game was he playing this time. This was her mother and step father, she had told him countless times before that family were off limits no matter what.
"Donāt dare touch her. You and your madman are cursed. Stay away from my family." David yelled at Penny who retracted her hands.
"You donāt need to take out your anger on my daughter. Sheās not the cause of your problem." Xavier said to David with a frown. He will not be here and watch them attack his child.
David managed to drag his wife out of the Penthouse and into the car. He had no idea what has happened to Maybelline but he knew he had to rush her down to the hospital immediately.
"What happened to them uncle?" Kael asked softly staring at the family who left.
"I have no idea." Xavier said. He was shocked himself that the people he met just yesterday normal, were now obese and fainting.
How was that even possible?
Was something added to their soup? Even though it was, nothing can make a human fat overnight. Itās not even scientifically possible.
Xavier checked himself stylishly, to be sure he hadnāt accidentally gained extra pounds too. It seems to be raining fatness in the penthouse right now.
"At first I was skeptical, but then I discovered the house we were being held at is your grandparents old abandoned mansion. šš§šš®šš®šš£šøššš.ššš
It has been abandoned for more then two decades, so itās not suspecting." He said calmly.
"But I thought..."
"You have thought wrong Penguin." Osvaldo said calmly. "You donāt trust people so easily. People change Penguin. Did you think after hating you since childbirth your mother would automatically just love you?" Penny couldnāt believe a word he said.
Her mother had thrown a party in her honor, announcing her to the world and everyone around that she was her child. She had even scolded Ariana before her and everyone.
Introduced her to her grandparents. How could all that be fake?
"I donāt believe you." Penny blurted out, then she whispered, "Iām sorry."
Maybe Osvaldo hates her mother after everything. She could understand if Maybelline said those things today out of anger. They had settled their differences already.
Maybelline seemed too genuine to be lying to her.
Pennyās eyes moistened. Her mother couldnāt have pretended to love her. That wasnāt possible. If she did, it would be the most horrible thing ever.
"I knew you wouldnāt believe me and itās alright Penguin. Thatās why I played along in the first place to expose her." Osvaldo said calmly.
"She planned it with the Petersonās and their target was me." Almost immediately after his words the Adkins lawyers arrived in the lab.
"Master everything has been settled. We have caused havoc in their families."
