la fucrand slightly in kaar’s hold, past enragh to press her cheek to his chest. He still smelled like cedar, black pepper, and sin.

he is her chest sharpened.

Because under the madness and plotting–under the adrenaline and performance–was fear.

She’d been so far gone. So powerless.

And that pissed her off more than anything.

And Enzo hadn’t flinched.

Hadn’t let go.

Hadn’t left.

He stayed. He stayed. He stayed.

She tilted her chin up and kissed his jaw. Soft. Unshowy. Just for him.

Then louder: “Alright boys. Let’s go give these assholes the slippery downfall they deserve.”

Dom raised a glass. “To criminal innovation.”

Gino clinked a water bottle. “And lube–related trauma.”

Nico: “Do not Google that phrase.*

Jake, still typing: “I’ll need her help later. Custom riddles. Her brain’s basically a tactical nuke–we might as well weaponize it.”

Lola smirked. “Add a goat, a ladder, and a fake passport.”

Jake didn’t even blink. “On it.”

Enzo’s brow twitched. “Nope. Absolutely not.”

Lola blinked up at him. “What?

Enzo didn’t even look away from Jake. “You two can’t be friends.”

Jake looked mildly offended. “Excuse me?

It’s not personal,Enzo said dryly. “You’re just… the wrong kind of influence.

Lola gasped. “You’re saying I’m easily influenced?”

“I’m saying the two of you in the same room is a liability,” he muttered. “For national security.”

Jake nodded thoughtfully. “That’s fair.”

Dom snorted. “Yeah, no more besties. She’s already got too many group chats.”

“Right?” Gino added. “At this point we’re gonna need vetting procedures. Background checks. Written references.”

“I’m literally just coding,” Jake said flatly.

“Yeah,” Nico said. “And it’s always the quiet ones you gotta watch.”

Lola reached for Enzo’s lapel again, grinning like the threat she absolutely was.

Enzo’s voice rumbled low, heat threaded with something darker:

4700

“What am I gonna do with all your all your madness when you’re carrying our kid and I’m even less inclined to tell you no? The whole Strip is going to burn down.”

Lola smirked, eyes glittering with mischief.

“Guess we’ll just have to find out when we get there.”

She kissed him–quick, soft, sinful–and pulled back with a sigh.

“But for now, I need to get ready for work.”

The room detonated.

Gino: “Absolutely not.”

Dom: “You’re kidding, right?”

>> I thought we were becoming buds Jake. >.>

Gino looked personally betrayed. “You were just kidnapped. We literally had to talk you down from going full Black Widow an hour ago.”

“I know,” Lola said breezily, already halfway to the hallway. Which is why I’m gonna keep things normal. You said it yourself–act like I’m fine. Business as usual, right?

“Bathroom, Dressing rooms, Parking lots. Someone is with you–always”

hen, “You want a bodyguard while peein

He didn’t blink, I want you alive?

“That’s not the same thing!

Enzo didn’t answer right away. Just stepped in close too close, His palm found her lower back, guiding her in until her chest grazed his. He bent down, voice low and venom–smooth against her ear,

“Have them take pictures.

Send them to me.

They won’t know what to do with you.

But I do.

And tonight…

…you’re mine to be devoured for letting them see you like that.”

Lola’s breath caught, heart tripping over itself. But her smirk didn’t falter.

She tipped her face up just enough to ghost her lips against his jaw–barely there. A kiss like a promise and a threat.

Then she stepped back with a teasing hum, like nothing happened at all.

Behind her, Nico fidgeted.

“So, uh…” he cleared his throat, eyes flicking between them like a man watching a live grenade. “I guess I’m on mall duty?”

“Switch spots with me,” Gino offered immediately. “You stay here and stare at spreadsheets, and I’ll go watch Lo try on lingerie.”

Enzo didn’t blink. “You think she’s buying lingerie?”

Dom blinked. “She’s not?”

Lola’s back was already to them, but her voice drifted out like mischief on smoke. “Guess you’ll just have to wait and see, boss man.”

“She better not,” Enzo muttered, eyes still on Lola like she was a crime scene he planned to revisit. “That’s not for anyone else’s eyes.”
