illegally flipping company land. I’ve kept partial evidence.”
“You want to report them to the police? Put them in prison?” he asked
I shook my head, conflicted. “The evidence isn’t solid enough for criminal charges. Even if I reported them, at best they’d be forced to retum the money. But honestly, that’s enough to make them squirm.”
Denver nodded. “So, what’s your plan?“}
“If they can’t even afford the auction payment, let’s add insult to injury.
As expected, when Denver handed copies of the evidence to Winston and Kiara, their expressions shifted instantly–from arrogance to panic and fury.
Later, Denver returned and told me, “They tore the documents to shred the moment they read them.”
Not long after, Kiara stormed into my office, ignoring the secretary trying to stop her. She threw a bank card at my face.
“There! Happy now? That’s all my personal savings from the past few years–not even three million. Consider it your compensation!
Her voice trembled with tears as she pointed at me, her pregnant belly rising with her emotions.
“You knew our family is already on edge trying to handle that auction payment, and yet you chose this moment to come after us. Do you have any conscience left?”
The card stung as it grazed my cheek and landed by my feet. I looked down at it and let out a cold laugh.
“Where was your conscience when you and Winston were scheming against me? I haven’t even reported you to the police. Asking for repayment is the least I could do–and for that, you come crying and throwing tantrums? You’re just like your mother. A homewrecker and a greedy parasite.”
No sooner had the words left my mouth than Kiara lunged at me
ged at me like a madwoman, yanking my h
hair with both hands.
Pain tore through my scalp. I doubled over, gasping.
I tried to push her away, but her grip was fierce, and she had me locked tight. I had no leverage
Then I saw my opening. I grabbed her hair in return and yanked hard.
She let out a sharp cry. Both of us were locked in a vicious tug–of–war, pulling at each other’s hair, neither willing to let go.
Denver burst through the office door, followed closely by a breathless Winston.
They both rushed forward to break us apart, but Kiara clung on for dear life, and I refused to back down either.!!
Then suddenly, Kiara let out a scream so piercing, it froze all of us.
Winston panicked. He yanked my arm violently, throwing me to the side.
I stumbled and nearly slammed my head against the sharp corner of a cabinet–but Denver caught me just in time.
“My wrist-
The moment I tried to move it, searing pain shot through me like fire.
“Bianca, is it broken? Tell me where it hurts–don’t move!”
“I think it’s fractured…”
Before I could say more, Winston turned around in a panic and rushed to me, his face was pale with guilt.
Crack!
Denver punched him square in the face and scooped me up in his arms.
Back in my office, Kiara sat slumped in a chair, crying.
Winston turned and looked at her his expression weary and defeated.K
