Chapter 5 Doctor’s Challenge

The first special tool fell, shining in the light.

Suddenly, the boy winced. In his struggle, he seemed to regain consciousness, and his tiny brows drew together.

Everyone exclaimed, “He’s going to wake up!”

Benjamin was stunned, his face turning pale. “How is this possible?”

How did she do it?

Just one prick of her tool can wake someone up?

Annelise raised her hand again, her eyes clear as starlight, her demeanor serene and composed.

She jabbed the boy’s ten fingers with her second tool.

Suddenly, the boy’s eyes snapped open.

His round eyes sparkled like onyx, framed by absurdly long lashes. He gazed silently at Annelise, his face drained of color.

Everyone widened their eyes.

One of the women exclaimed in disbelief, “Miss, you just pricked him a couple of times, and he’s cured?”

Annelise slowly squeezed his fingers until there was enough blood. Then she pressed a cotton swab to stop the bleeding. “Can’t do it randomly. I just pricked the points on his fingers, which helps to clear the heat and restore consciousness. He had heatstroke because it was too hot. And what I did could bring down the fever.”

“As if that were real.” Benjamin tittered. “The boy hasn’t said a word since just now. Maybe your method just caused complications!”

The woman scoffed, “He’s already awake, yet you’re still talking about complications. Do you not want to apologize?”

“And what business is that of yours?” Benjamin glanced at her and chortled “I get it now You’re in cahoots. One plays the bait. The other plays the victim. It’s all part of a scam. I know the people who studied traditional medicine are all crooks!”

Annelise’s gaze frosted. Just as she raised her hand, the little boy spoke up.

He said weakly, “The traditional medicine has always been a jewel of Ewharia. Sir, your knowledge of medicine is inadequate. You ought to read more books.”

“You…” Benjamin was tongue–tied. He just claimed the boy wasn’t cured, but here he was, hurling insults at him. How humiliating!

The woman cracked up. “Hey, nerd, go back to studying!”

“I won’t waste time arguing with the likes of you!” Benjamin said with a contemptuous look. “Just a bunch of paupers.”

Annelise threw her tool at him. It grazed his cheek and stabbed straight into the tree next to him.

Benjamin froze. His legs went weak.

Annelise grinned playfully. “Did you forget something?”

She was just a little girl, yet her menacing aura made his heart skip a beat.

Benjamin managed to keep his cool. “What did I forget?”

“Apologize, and call me the GOAT!” Annelise gracefully tapped her phone twice.

Benjamin refused and said arrogantly, “Everyone makes mistakes. I don’t have time to deal with an amateur like you.”

The woman could barely watch. She interjected, “Seriously? You’re supposed to be Madam Kendrick’s student? How can you not apologize after you lost to her? Is this what you call ethics?”

“What’s wrong with my ethics?” Benjamin barked shamelessly. “Who can prove what I just said? You can’t even afford to see Madam Kendrick in a lifetime. You should feel lucky that I’m here offering free treatment. You lowlifes still complain? Look around before you stir up trouble!”
