After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1712

Chapter 1712: Where is the Flaret Token? (Part 2)

Felipe smiled as he hid away, token in hand—inside its Token Guard—and just waiting for the war to end.

After so many months, he had already bought off the Elders, and they trusted him, especially when they witnessed how it was he, Felipe, who raised Flaret to its current state.

He not only introduced these money-making products, but he was also the one to organize their forces so they would retain their strength. He was also the one responsible for securing everything, making sure they weren’t so exposed to outsiders, at least prematurely, until they were ready.

This was not an easy task, and there were plenty of almost-leaks, but his procedures, security measures, and foresight had never before seen in Xeno, and people were just left in awe, even the arrogant elders.

He was also the one who had negotiations and deals with the strong mercenary teams. It was he, Felipe, whom those strongmen had truly befriended, not the useless Lord.

He remembered the annoyances of trying to coax the token out of the useless pig’s hand. But he did, convincing him that it would only bring him danger. He, Felipe, had taken an oath to protect him after all, so he could trust him.

Fortunately, Peaco was high as a kite to think too much. The promise of an even better drug made Peaco—who had been conditioned thoroughly by him—ecstatic and believe whatever he said.

Felipe then asked him to hurry and hide in the warehouse instead. He would deal with what happened on the outside.

Felipe’s plan was to make the enemies believe the token was with Peaco and put all their attention on the warehouse, not realizing it was a red herring.

Felipe was focused on covering his own tracks then, not knowing what happened to Peaco, nor did he care.

How was he supposed to know that the door to the warehouse had been blocked? It was an extremely gooey substance that, if touched, would temporarily paralyze whoever touched it.

If someone tried burning it out, it’d release toxic gas instead, making things worse!!

Peaco wasn’t particularly strong for a Lord of a Town. He was only in his early level 30s, and half of that was through his family’s collection of aether crystals. Even so, they did have some people past that, but they found it difficult to open!

But the more they tried, the more their forces were affected!

Even those who were at level 40 were weakened by the toxic fumes! This was not to be underestimated! They needed all the powerhouses in this war!

No one, even the mercenaries they hired, had seen something like this before. Voumi must’ve gotten support from a City, or at least a powerful Town!

No, it could only be a City!

If the Alterrans who shot this could hear their thoughts, they’d feel very smug.

Anyway, the threat of more powerful people also supporting Voumi dampened the mood in Flaret, especially when seeing their Lord scurrying to hide like an idiot.
