RONAN
“Operation Beijing is ready to launch then,” Her brown eyes linger on me for ten more seconds than it should before Lilith Cruz glances at the other men in the room, half of which are our latest Chinese partners.
“Congratulations, gentlemen.” She concludes, clapping her hands together, and the room erupts into an applause.
My pen twirls between my fingers. I nod, a polite smile plastered on my face as I silently congratulate everyone.
Forty billion dollars, thirty surveillance networks, and two governments later, it’s signed. East Asia is HawkThorne’s for the taking now.
We rise to exchange handshakes. I thank the CEO of my partner company, DragonEye Technologies, in chinese. His eyes light up in surprise.
“I get that a lot,” I say, waving his shock with a polite smile.
Global business requires me to know my way around a dozen languages. I don’t show my hand until the deal’s sealed.”
I bid the men farewell. My assistant, Hosea, ushers them out of my office.
Once the door closes, I turn to find Lilith Crux seated on my desk, legs crossed.
Jet black hair, deep brown siren eyes, and massive tits she never ceases to keep tucked in a push up bra. She has definitely undone two extra buttons of her silk white shirt from the last time I saw her.
“Weren’t you supposed to leave with the rest?” I ask, standing in front of her.
Her gaze drops to my lips, and her tongue dances over her lower lip slowly. I fight the urge to roll my eyes.
Slender fingers reach for the tip of my neck tie.
“I was hoping we could go somewhere and celebrate. You, Malachi, Jaxon, and I. Just like old times.” Her hands travel up my chest, and find a resting place on my shoulders as he pushes herself forward.
“I miss you, Ronan. All of you.”
Something in me stiffens, and it’s not my cock. Reaching for her wrist, my gaze hardens on her. One swift move takes her hands off me, and her eyes are laced with shock.
“We’ve been busy, Lilith. No time for games anymore.” I turn my back, but she follows me, scoffing bitterly.
A lot of things have changed since a whirlwind brough Sarah into our lives again.
“Games? Ronan, come on. Why have you been acting differently? Jaxon and Malachi won’t even reply to my messages, not even the thirst traps they used to love so much.”
I pause on my tracks and slowly turn to her.
“About that, I think it’s time you stop.”
“Stop?” She gasps in shock, eyes wide and mouth agape.
“Ronan…” I can tell she knows whatever words that leave her lips next are sure to annoy me when she pauses, swallows them back, and sighs.
“Is this about my hair? I know you like it red, but…”
Her words are cut off by the knock on my door.
I avert my stare from her to the intruder by the door.
It’s Hosea.
“It’s time to leave for your lunch at the villa, sir.”
I nod.
“Thank you, Hosea.”
Without looking at Lilith, I brush past her and head to the door.
“Can I at least call you?”
I stop dead.
“No.”
I do not wait to see her reaction or hear anything she has to say. On the way to my car, I can’t help but think about her. Sarah, of course. She hasn’t called yet, which I find very discomforting. Doesn’t she know we need to be sure she’s okay?
