(Connor's POV)
When I heard this news, I reacted strongly. I stood up suddenly, my gray eyes wide with shock, and lunged fiercely at Ethan Stone through the reinforced glass barrier.
"Ethan Stone, how dare you curse my daughter!" My wolf snarled beneath my skin, barely contained by the silver-lined cell that weakened my supernatural abilities.
The silver burned against my palms as I pressed them against the glass. My breathing came in ragged gasps as rage consumed me.
Ethan Stone remained unmoved by my rage, his amber eyes cold and distant. Without a word, he showed me the death certificate sent by Dr. Harrison Fletcher through the reinforced glass.
Seeing Emma's name on the official Silvercrest Pack Medical Den document, my struggling stopped. My pupils dilated violently, my lips trembled, and tears quickly welled up in my eyes.
Ethan lowered the document. I pressed my face against the glass, my hands trembling as I tried to read the details.
I saw the name: Emma Frost. Cause of death: multiple organ failure due to kidney rejection and severe infection.
The words blurred before my eyes. My wolf retreated deeper within me, whimpering with disbelief.
I refused to believe it, recalling that Emma had visited me yesterday and called me "Dad" several times through the glass partition. Even though I knew she did it to help Victoria, hearing my biological daughter call me "Dad" filled my heart with joy.
I would give her my life, let alone help Victoria conceal the truth about Victoria's crimes. Now, Ethan was telling me that my daughter, who was alive and well yesterday, had suddenly died of organ failure.
My wolf howled in anguish within me, the sound echoing through the detention center.
I slammed my fists against the reinforced glass, the silver content burning my skin. I glared at Ethan and said, "Alpha Stone, it's all fake, right? The death certificate is a forgery. Emma isn't dead. You're hiding her and lying to me."
I accused him of trying to manipulate me into testifying against Victoria by faking Emma's death, hoping to break my spirit completely. I believed Ethan was trying to exploit my paternal bond, remembering how the Alpha had used Emma as leverage during our previous encounters.
"You think I'm stupid enough to fall for this trick?" I snarled through the glass.
I stared intently at Ethan through the glass, searching for any sign of deception in the Alpha's amber eyes. However, I found nothing on Ethan's face—no guilt, no satisfaction, only cold indifference.
This absence of emotion intensified my fear. Deep down, I was terrified that Ethan was telling the truth and my precious Emma was truly dead.
I desperately wanted to believe that the Alpha King was lying. The thought of losing my only bloodline was unbearable.
Overwhelmed by grief, my legs trembled, and only my hands pressed against the glass kept me from collapsing. My wolf retreated deep within me, whimpering with loss.
Ethan took out a tablet and held it up to the glass, showing me surveillance footage from the Silvercrest Pack Medical Den. Realizing what the videos might contain, my pupils dilated again.
I instinctively recoiled from the screen, a gesture of avoidance, unable to accept or face the truth. Yet, my eyes were drawn to the tablet like a magnet.
The video was like opening a wound I couldn't bear to see, promising a result I dreaded but couldn't resist witnessing. It was my daughter, the only pup I would give my life to protect.
After a brief hesitation, I pressed closer to the glass, my breath fogging the surface as I watched.
Sliding down the glass wall to the floor of my cell, I cried out, "Emma!" I felt an intense hatred for Victoria, wishing I could tear her to pieces with my bare hands.
(Victoria's POV)
Back at the Silvercrest Pack Medical Den, I sat in my wheelchair beside Emma's covered form, staring blankly at the wall. Dr. Fletcher had pulled me away from the bed after my outburst, and I now sat in stunned silence.
It was not because I felt guilty about Emma's death, but because I was calculating my next move. My leverage was gone—Emma could no longer be used to manipulate either Connor or Ethan.
Emma's death meant Ethan would soon know the full truth about my crimes from Connor's testimony. I knew Connor had evidence against me for the kidney trafficking and Roland Warner's murder.
I couldn't let that happen. I had to flee Silvercrest Pack territory before Ethan obtained the evidence.
As long as I escaped to rogue territory beyond pack jurisdiction, I could avoid facing pack justice for my crimes.
I dared not delay any longer. To avoid being stopped by the medical staff, I made an excuse about needing to retrieve Emma's belongings from my cottage, leaving the medical den while the staff prepared the body for burial rites.
My hidden savings and forged identification documents were still intact from my previous escape plans. I had enough money for transport and could disappear into the human world where pack laws couldn't reach me.
Two hours later, I returned to my cottage in Maple Grove to gather my emergency supplies, then withdrew the last of my hidden funds and headed toward the pack border, hoping to reach neutral territory before Ethan discovered my deception.

Please break Olivia 's mate bond to that evil man. She deserves respite from the abuse she and Lily endured....
I’m reading this and think: BITCH JUST BREAK YOUR MATE BOND AND SAY I’M NOT YOUR MATE ANYMORE!...
I swear to you if Olivia goes back to Ethan and not ends up with Lukas, I’ll drop this book....
Yes… Victoria is finally about to get caught up...
I can’t wait until Victoria finally gets caught up....
The story would be better if it didn’t drag on. Olivia’s character eh , sounds like a broken record...
