Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 260

(Audrey’s POV)

The first contraction hit me like lightning as I reached for my morning tea. I gripped the kitchen counter, breathing through the sudden intensity while calculating the timing in my head.

“Too early,” I whispered to myself. “Three weeks too early.”

But my daughters clearly had their own timeline.

“Florian!” I called out, my voice carrying across the territory den with more urgency than I intended.

His response was immediate. Golden eyes wide with alarm, he appeared in the kitchen doorway within seconds, still holding his business correspondence.

“Is it time?” he asked, though my expression had already given him the answer.

“The contractions are five minutes apart,” I said, gripping the marble counter as another wave rolled through me. “They’ve been going for the past hour.”

Florian sprang into action with military precision that would have been amusing under different circumstances. He grabbed our prepared emergency list from the refrigerator, checking items with focused intensity.

“Emergency kit from the hall closet,” he muttered, racing toward the storage area.

“Florian,” I called after him, fighting back a smile despite the discomfort. “Remember to contact the backup healer in case Dr. Moonhowl is unavailable.”

“Already on my pack device,” he replied, his voice slightly muffled from the closet. “Beta Kael is handling the secondary protocols.”

I shook my head in fond exasperation. My mate had spent months preparing contingency plans for every possible birth scenario.

Another contraction made me gasp and lean forward. These were definitely getting stronger.

“How are you feeling?” Florian asked, returning with the emergency kit and his pack device pressed to his ear.

“Like our daughters have inherited your impatience,” I managed between breaths.

Dr. Moonhowl’s familiar voice came through the speaker with reassuring professionalism. “Luna Stormhowl, how long have the contractions been regular?”

“About ninety minutes now,” I replied. “Five minutes apart and getting more intense.”

“I’m gathering my team immediately,” she said. “These pups are eager to meet their family.”

“Everything is progressing perfectly normally for twin delivery,” she continued. “We’ll be there within twenty minutes.” Florian ended the call and immediately began timing my next contraction with stopwatch precision.

“Four minutes apart now,” he announced, as if I couldn’t feel the increasing pressure myself.

“Florian, I need you to breathe,” I said gently, noting his rapid breathing and tense shoulders. “The pups can sense your anxiety.”

He took a deliberate breath and moved behind me, his hands settling on my lower back with gentle pressure. The warmth from his touch eased some of the discomfort.

“Better?” he asked softly.

“Much,” I confirmed, leaning back against his chest.

Dr. Moonhowl arrived with her full medical team just as my labor intensified significantly. The healers transformed our bedroom into a professional birthing suite with efficient precision.

“How are we doing, Luna?” Dr. Moonhowl asked, washing her hands in the basin her assistant had prepared.

“Ready to meet my daughters,” I replied, gripping Florian’s hand as another strong contraction peaked.

“Good answer,” she smiled, beginning her examination. “Your body is doing exactly what it should. First baby should arrive within the hour.”

The next forty minutes passed in a blur of concentrated effort and overwhelming anticipation. Florian never left my side, offering water, encouragement, and his strong hand to squeeze during the most intense moments.

“I can see the head,” Dr. Moonhowl announced with excitement. “One more push, Luna.”

Our first daughter arrived just after noon, announcing her presence with strong, healthy cries that filled the entire territory den. The sound was the most beautiful music I had ever heard.

“She has your golden eyes,” I whispered to Florian as Dr. Moonhowl placed our tiny daughter on my chest.

Florian was openly crying, his face transformed with wonder as he gently touched our daughter’s perfect little hand.

“And your fierce spirit,” he replied, his voice thick with emotion. “Look how alert she is.”

“Aurora,” I said softly, the name feeling absolutely right as I studied her determined expression. “For the new beginning she represents.”

“Aurora Stormhowl,” Florian repeated reverently. “Perfect.”

“Second baby is coming,” Dr. Moonhowl warned. “Much faster than expected.”

Our second daughter followed twenty minutes later, slightly smaller but equally vigorous. She had inherited my auburn hair and an expression of serious concentration that reminded me of myself as a child.

“And this one will be Serena,” Florian announced, his voice breaking with emotion. “For the she-wolf who found her way home.”

The symmetry felt perfect. Honoring both our present happiness and the difficult past that had shaped us into the wolves we were today.

“Hello, Serena,” I whispered to our second daughter. “Welcome to your family.”

Within an hour, our territory den had filled with excited family members. Yvette was the first to arrive, having received Florian’s message while in a pack council meeting.

“My granddaughters,” she breathed, tears streaming down her face as she approached the bed cautiously.

“Would you like to hold Aurora?” I offered, carefully transferring our firstborn to her grandmother’s eager arms.

Yvette’s face crumpled with overwhelming joy as she cradled the tiny wolf.

“I never dared hope I’d live to see this day,” she whispered, studying Aurora’s perfect features. “She’s absolutely beautiful.” “Just like her grandmother,” Florian said warmly.

Elder Shadowcrest arrived next, having insisted on making the journey despite her advanced age and frail health. Sarah helped her settle into the comfortable chair Florian had positioned beside the bed.

“Blessed by the Moon Goddess,” Elder Shadowcrest said solemnly, extending one weathered hand to touch each twin’s forehead. “These pups will bring great honor to both their bloodlines.”

She had brought traditional pack blessing charms, carefully placing one in each baby’s receiving blanket.
