Chapter 12

I wanted an explanation, but what was happening was beyond explanation. And what of me? I… My heart thundered in my chest as I looked up at him. This was wrong on so many levels.

He carried me to the guest room. That was it—1 should stop it right here. But the moment I looked at him too….

Do not think, Mila. I want you to just- He opened the door and kicked it closed. “Stay in the moment with me,” he said, brushing his lips against. mine once, twice, before deepening the kiss. He moved us to the bed and laid us down. My arms tightened around him as I licked his lower lip. He pinned me down with a groan, his tongue fighting mine for dominance, nearly stealing all the air from my lungs.

I gasped for breath as he pulled away, swallowing hard as his eyes bore into mine. 1 felt every inch of him against me. My feet traveled from his ankles to his knees, wanting to soak up every bit of warmth he offered. His hand lazily roamed from my face to my chest, down to my hip, and then to my thighs. My heart raced faster.

Silence settled between us, heavy with words unspoken. He held himself over me with one hand braced against the bed, his knees supporting his weight.

“God, I want to sink back into you again,” he groaned, letting his body lower slightly as he buried his face in my neck.

My heart thundered in my chest at the prospect. He lazily circled his hand over my hip while my fingers stroked his hair. My body curled around him instinctively, the feel of him almost enough to make me forget the soreness building in my muscles.

was a miracle

I didn’t know what to say. My body was at its limits–not to mention, he needed to leave if we wanted to avoid any unpleasantness. It was a n no one had woken up after the noises we made.

I nodded, and he raised himself off me. “Let me help you clean up,” he said, caressing my check

him. Then again, no

I was taken aback by his care. I wasn’t an expert at this, only indulging occasionally, and no one I had slept with before was like hi one 1 had slept with had fucked me senseless.

He got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. My eyes followed the strong lines of his back, now fully illuminated by the warm yellow glow of the lamp. A tattoo spread over his shoulder blade–a vine curling elegantly across his skin. Fresh scratches marked his back, courtesy of my nails. Lower down, scars from healed stab wounds and a burn mark on the back of his bicep reminded me of who he was.

1 tumed over, burying my exhausted body in the softness of the bed. The linen sheets brushed against my sensitive skin as my muscles relaxed into the mold of the mattress. A soft sigh escaped my lips as 1 closed my eyes.

I sensed him approaching, heard himn place something on the bedside table, followed by the sound of dripping water. I shivered as he pressed a warm, wet towel to my shoulder, relief flooding through me.

He turned me gently to face him. My eyes flicked to his tattoo again, noticing that the scars it hid were fewer compared to those on his back. I grabbed his hand.

“I’ll do it myself, I murmured

“Let nue,” he replied, brushing my hair back. His gentle gestures squeezed my heart painfully.

“Kilbao, I think you should go.” I said, my somber expression breaking our eye contact.

“Alright” he agreed, and I suppressed a sigh of relief

“But at least les me do this,” lar added

He pressed the wet towel to my shoulder, moving down to my breast. I let out an involuntary moan at the sensation on my sensitive, raw skin. My nipples hardened again, and my checks flamed under his gaze

Surrender was the only way out of this torment. I sighed, tension leaving my body as he continued.
