"Who is it?" Mother Bai spoke with a frown on her face. She looked at the door and then turned to look at her daughter before saying to her, "Did Ah Qian say that he was going to return today?"
"No," Bai Meiyue replied as she shook her head. She didn’t know where Lei Qian went, but what she did know was that the man didn’t go anywhere close. The pharmacies in the downtown were long robbed by the survivors; thus, he and the rest of the team must have gone somewhere far with Yang Wei.
Naturally, they would not be able to return in a day or two.
When Mother Bai heard that it was not Lei Qian, she turned suspicious, but she still walked over to the door and turned the camera on. When she saw Dacheng and Chief Lin along with Lu Yin standing outside, she frowned and turned to look at Bai Meiyue before saying, "It’s the people from the army. Why did they come here now?"
Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes upon hearing her mother’s words. She got to her feet and then held her stomach, which was now like a small ball. She knew that there was no point in ignoring the people outside, after all, since they had come to look for trouble; what could she do? Hide? That was not an option.
She could only deal with the trouble that was looking for her.
With her belly covered protectively, she walked over to the door that protected the penthouse, but she didn’t turn off the electricity. She opened the main door but left the grid door intact. Peeking through the mesh, she stared at Chief Lin and the other two people, along with the old men and women who were dressed as researchers.
She thought of the soil that Fox had stolen from her greenhouse and understood what was going on at once.
"What is it?" Bai Meiyue asked through the door.
When Chief Lin saw that Bai Meiyue hadn’t even opened the door and allowed them to enter her house, his expression turned grim. He narrowed his eyes and said to her, "Open the door and let us in."
"I am sorry," said Bai Meiyue with a hint of mockery in her tone. "The men of the house are out, and we only have women at home. We cannot let you and the rest of the men inside when it’s only women, Chief Lin. As men, you should understand our worries of getting bullied, right?"
