On the other side, Dacheng and the rest were looking at the clock; they had been waiting for Lei Qian to join them, but it was already eight past, and the man never arrived with his team. Even after waiting for so long, Dacheng didn’t see anyone arriving. In the silence of the night, they could only hear the sound of the mutated bugs croaking along with their wings snapping against one another.
Suddenly, Chief Lin broke the silence. "There is no point in waiting for them; they are not going to come tonight. Let’s just do it."
"Okay", Dacheng lowered his head and hid the disappointment in his eyes. He thought that he might have convinced Bai Meiyue to join them. But it turned out that it was he who thought too much. Anyway, even if Lei Qian did not come, they would have to do it. Winners or losers, it didn’t matter; they had no other choice now that the ability user who could control these bugs was dead.
He sucked in a breath and said to the rest, "Let’s do this. We are going to do big things together, so don’t look back and continue marching forward. If you look back, then we will definitely lose this battle."
Chief Lin got to his feet and so did the rest of the team as they looked at the researcher who had just dusted his hands of the special suits.
"How long can they last?" Lu Yin asked while eyeing those green suits that looked really ugly.
"They can last for seventeen hours," replied the man promptly. "As long as they are not burnt by the fire of an ability user, that is. The time is tight, and I couldn’t make suits that will be resistant to fire ability users."
When Lu Yin heard that these suits were not fire-resistant, she frowned with an ugly scowl. She wanted to say something but was stopped by Dacheng. He glared at her, stopping her from saying anything. Upset with the glare that she was pointed at with, Lu Yin pursed her lips so tightly that they turned white. She wondered why Dacheng was acting like this; this man had one job, and that was to make sure that the suits that he was creating were going to be perfect, and he couldn’t do that one little thing.
Why was she the one who was getting blamed?
She was only pointing out the truth.
Lu Yin was upset, but she didn’t dare to say anything and could only stay quiet. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
