(World Abilities)

’I’m improving.’

Months ago, Atticus began his search on finding a way to improve his newly found powers. As it turned out, it had been straightforward.

Solvath’s will had influenced him and changed his power, and it was the same thing that improved it. All he had to do was use his abilities in tandem with Solvath’s power and he gradually improved.

’The attunements...’

Though they weren’t at a hundred percent yet, Atticus could already feel the changes.

’’My mana control is insane. Elements too...’

Atticus stood, shut his eyes, then focused.

"Enhance."

Mana churned through his body, and his strength rose to unimaginable heights. He took a step, then vanished, appearing at the other side of the chamber.

Atticus repeated this for a few moments, smiling widely.

’It really is different.’

Before, to enhance his body, Atticus had to consciously move mana around his body. But now, with his mana fusing with his will, the whole process had changed, simplified in fact.

His mana had gained life. It was his will and obeyed intent. Now, to enhance his body all he had to do was instruct.

’It’s amazing.’

Atticus stretched out his palm. "Ball."

A ball formed.

"Shoot."

It tore forward.

"Explode."

It detonated in a blast that shook the chamber.

As the dust settled, Atticus found himself smiling. Then he turned to other aspects of his power.

’My physical aspect... with my mana and will fusing, it’s becoming stronger. My intelligence, authority, and presence too.’

Atticus moved to his katana arts.

’They’re different.’

Of everything, Atticus had found that his katana arts were reacting differently.

’They evolved.’

While he gained power from the other aspects, the katana art had gone a level higher. The attunement affected something different, the katana art itself.

He grabbed his katana and felt it tremble in his grip. Atticus let out a breath, then drew. A crescent slash materialized, screaming toward the wall.

"Crush."

It smashed the wall like a truck, cratering it. With a thought, Atticus allowed the slash to disperse and stared at his work.

’Interesting.’

Rather than a single slash, it appeared as though something blunt had impacted the wall.

’Just like mana.’

Jenera smiled triumphantly. "See? Impossible."

"I... I guess..."

"We’ve overcome everything thrown at us. We’ll overcome the Ascension Games too."

He exhaled and nodded reluctantly. "Right. Right. Yes. Of course. We will."

She leaned in seductively, brushing her lips near his ear.

"Now stop thinking and come here..."

Oberon froze.

"Jenera—?"

She pulled him down onto the chair, straddling him gracefully.

A kiss landed on his lips and his hands instinctively gripped the seat.

"H-Honey... wait, let me—"

"I’ll make you feel good before the stress destroys your brain."

"That’s... surprisingly reasonable—"

"Ahem."

They both froze. There was only one person who could sneak up on them like that. As they turned, Oberon’s soul left his body.

"Supreme ruler!"

He launched himself to his feet so fast the chair shot backwards. He tried to bow but nearly bowed into the floor.

"Sorry for the interruption. You were clearly... busy."

Oberon took a large step from Jenera then cleared his throat.

"Y-you weren’t supposed to— I mean— we were just about to discuss important matters."

"Very important, I imagine."

Atticus shook his head then turned to Jenera, who was subtly glaring at him, clearly for interrupting them. He mouthed a sorry, then shrugged helplessly. Would they rather he watch them? He shuddered.

"Haha." Oberon forced a laugh and fixed his eyes on Atticus. "Happy to see you’ve returned from seclusion, Supreme Ruler!"

"Thank you."

’He’s different.’ Oberon gulped. Atticus felt... different. Like his presence was fundamental. He didn’t disturb the world, the world bent around him instead.

"The Ascension Game is tomorrow."

"Yes, Supreme Ruler! I am aware, very aware, extremely aware— painfully aware—"

Jenera elbowed him.

"...We are prepared," he corrected, coughing.

"Are you ready?"

Oberon swallowed but nodded resolutely.

"Yes."

"Good. Now give me a rundown of everything."
