"Carol, did my baby brother wake up? Then I won't sleep anymore. I want to play with him for a while—"

"No! You have to get up early tomorrow!"

"I'll just play with him for a while. His eyes are open and he isn't asleep!"

Maaike walked in with some midnight snacks in her hands. She saw that Carolien looked so flustered, with a baby in her arms and a toddler around her. Maaike put down her things and couldn't help laughing.

"I knew you can't rest once Madam Aleena left!"

"Did he say baby brother, what was that about?" The ranking was all messed up!

She laughed, but she reached out and pulled Alistair out of the big bed. "Alistair, Miss Embich brought you toys and cake. Let's go quietly... Don't let others see us!"

After taking Alistair to the room next door, Maaike coaxed him, read another two stories and tucked him to sleep.
