Chapter 966: Chapter 784: Thirtieth District

Thirtieth District.

Airport.

As soon as the plane landed and Qiao Sang turned off flight mode, she received a string of messages from Marlal:

[Why didn’t you come find me today?]

[Does Flame Kiru still need practice at noon?]

[You didn’t give up, did you?!]

[Actually, I think Flame Kiru still has a good chance!]

[By the way, if you don’t need Xianbao Butterfly for the next stage, could you at least remember to check out the coordination tournament given all the training?]

Oh no, I forgot to let Marlal know... Qiao Sang replied:

[Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I had a last-minute change and went to another district. I’ll continue training when I return.]

Marlal seemed glued to her phone and responded instantly:

[No worries, no worries! When will you be back?]

Qiao Sang replied while disembarking the plane: [Not sure yet.]

Marlal sent a string of [crying] emojis: [Can you make it back in time for the coordination tournament?!]

Just as Qiao Sang was about to answer, she heard Billet suddenly speak:

"Careful."

Immediately, passengers disembarking alongside them gasped in alarm.

Qiao Sang sensed something was amiss, looked up, and saw various Flight-Type Pet Beasts circling high above, predatory gazes fixed on the ground.

Suddenly, an enormous blue-green bird-like Pet Beast, over five meters in size, lit up with a glowing cyan radiance as it dove from high altitude, hurtling down like a burning cyan meteor.

"Boom!"

The cyan light was abruptly obstructed by an invisible barrier just as it approached the airport.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please do not worry. We will ensure the safety of all visitors within the airport. Please take your belongings and leave in an orderly manner." A sweet voice came over the broadcast.

As the announcement ended, another Flight-Type Pet Beast dove down but was also blocked by the barrier.

This is the Thirtieth District... Qiao Sang’s heart tightened, her sense of urgency skyrocketing. Without hesitation, she formed a seal gesture with her hands.

Two orange-yellow Star Arrays lit up simultaneously.

By this time, nearly every tourist who had just disembarked was forming seal gestures, Star Arrays glowing across the space, making hers less conspicuous.

Soon, Lubao and Gangbao appeared within her Star Arrays.

People nearby cast curious glances.

Wherever you are, Pet Beasts that no one has seen before always draw attention.

"Stay close to me and stay alert to the surroundings," Qiao Sang said solemnly.

She had been to lower districts before and knew the importance of summoning Pet Beasts directly for protection. In moments of danger, there often wasn’t even enough time to form a seal gesture.

"Ya!" Yaobao, who had been shadowing her, let out a sharp cry.

"Xun Xun~" The invisible Xun Xun revealed itself, removed its circular ring, rummaged for a moment, and handed over the backpack its Beast Tamer typically carried.

Qiao Sang caught the gesture, took the bag, unzipped it, and slung it over her shoulder.

"Bing’ai."

Lubao jumped nimbly into the bag.

Xun Xun again vanished into invisibility, its actions keen and precise.

"Gangzhan."

Gangbao glanced toward the sky, a heavy expression crossing its face. Moments later, its body gradually expanded, returning to its full, imposing size.

With her four Pet Beasts all by her side, Qiao Sang felt a sense of security settle within her.

Billet observed Qiao Sang’s swift preparations, his lips twitching slightly. He then raised his head to gaze at the Flight-Type Pet Beasts still circling overhead, his heart sinking.

He knew well that the Thirtieth District was perilous, though his initial purpose for visiting Chao Su Star had been tourism and relaxation—he hadn’t ventured into the Thirtieth District before.

Unlike a Secret Realm, where avoiding hazardous zones meant encountering manageable numbers of Pet Beasts—and sometimes the chance to camp out and cook a decent meal—the situation in the Thirtieth District appeared far more treacherous, with wild Pet Beasts seemingly everywhere...

This realization caused Billet to rub his forehead in mild frustration as he summoned: "Come forth."

At his command, one of the hairs on his head suddenly thickened, writhing like a worm, and leapt down, sprouting black fuzz and steadily growing larger. Its head then popped out with a loud "thud," sporting blue eyes and a pair of brown antennae coiled around its cheeks.

Soon, black wings, limbs, and a humanoid body emerged, standing in a cross-armed posture.

It transformed into what was now a three-meter-tall Pet Beast.

"Fafa."

When her eyes landed on a lump of descending excrement from their recent position, realization—and horror—struck her.

Damn, I almost got pooped on... A wave of relief washed over Qiao Sang as she looked to Xun Xun and said:

"Get me a hat."

"Xun Xun~"

Xun Xun obliged with a murmur, removing its circular ring.

Billet turned to look at her and asked, "Do you have an extra hat? Grab one for me too."

A minute later, the two of them donned baseball caps.

With the Famiu Moth and the intimidating presence of Gangbao, their journey faced no active aggression from wild Pet Beasts.

Their progress was relatively smooth.

...

An hour later.

Beast Taming Center.

The staff at the counter apologized, "Sorry, all our rooms are fully booked."

Before Billet could say anything, a nearby passerby looked at them in shock:

"You want to stay at the Beast Taming Center—didn’t you make a reservation in advance?"

Billet asked, "Is it really that crowded?"

"Is this your first time here?" The passerby countered.

Billet replied with a simple, "Yes."

"That explains it." The passerby’s eyes brimmed with pity and sympathy: "When it comes to lodging in the Thirtieth District, the Beast Taming Center is the safest option. Generally, you need to book a month in advance. And there are only a handful of hotels with decent safety measures. Without a reservation, there’s simply no room for you."

"If you came without any bookings, congratulations—you probably won’t be sleeping soundly around here."

Hearing this, Qiao Sang’s stomach sank as an unsettling premonition crept over her.

Billet, however, seemed unfazed. "Thanks, I understand."

"So what do we do now?" Qiao Sang asked once they were off to the side.

"We can’t waste time looking for accommodations," Billet said as though already anticipating this. "We’ll just camp right here."

Qiao Sang: "???"
