Chapter 15
“Hello, Daphne.” Jeremiah spotted her first.
Noticing her new look, he arched an eyebrow but didn’t make any comments. He helped her inside, and she sat at one side of the long table.
Maxwell and Roxanne sat opposite them.
Upon seeing her, Roxanne stood up immediately.
“Hello, Ms. Daphne. I’m Roxanne. I don’t know if you’ve heard of me,” she smiled weakly, looking utterly pitiful.
“I genuinely am interested in your song. Could you sell it to me?”
Instead of answering right away, Stephanie glanced at Maxwell.
His entire focus was on Roxanne, and he hadn’t even shot her a glance.
Sitting next to her, Jeremiah said, “Ms. Gregg, as I told you before, Daphne has no intention of selling it.”
Falling silent, Roxanne stared at Stephanie, her eyes red.
“But, Ms. Daphne, I really like this song of yours…” She suddenly frowned, seeming in agony.
Next to her, Maxwell frowned, the concern in his eyes palpable.
She shook her head while putting on a braye 1…e and continued, fixing her gaze on Stephanie, “Ms. Daphne, I’ll die in six months.
“It’ll be greatly appreciated if you could fulfill my last wish.”

Stephanie chuckled.
She thought, “Yeah, yeah. Her last wish again.
“When Maxwell proposed a divorce, he told me her last wish was to be his wife.
“Apparently, her bucket list just got longer.
“I feel sorry for her because she’s dying soon, but why should I be the one making sacrifices?
“Besides, she’s the homewrecker. She doesn’t deserve my pity or my
respect.
“Just because I’m not the one with cancer, I’m supposed to prioritize her every wish? How ridiculous!
“What if I don’t want to?” she said, deliberately sounding hoarse.

Roxanne seemed so surprised that she was momentarily speechless.
Meanwhile, Stephanie continued in a lowered voice, “Ms. Gregg, in fact, I’ve heard about you. After all, topics about your final days have gone viral these days. But it’s my right to decide whether I sell my songs or not. I’m not obliged to fulfill your last wish. Besides, I can’t even think of what you wanna do with the song.”
After a slight pause, she continued, “Are you gonna use it for your livestreams? Or … as the background music for your funeral?”
“You…” Furious, Roxanne coughed violently.
While patting her back gently, Maxwell look displeased.

“Ms. Daphne, that’s a bit uncalled for. Don’t you think?” he snapped, frowning.
His dark eyes were razor–sharp.
As he pursed his thin lips into a straight line, she saw undisguised displeasure toward her on his face.
She looked at him.
His outfit was different from yesterday.
She vaguely remembered it was one of the sets she had matched for him.
He must have gone back to the villa already.
