Chapter 154
Whether it was not answering calls or not replying to messages, or the rejection at Moon Manor before.
Over there, Belinda still wouldn’t leave, and she was in the corner with Patrick, looking this way.
Stephanie didn’t want to argue with Maxwell either, so she turned to leave.
“Wait.” Maxwell reached out and held Stephanie’s hand, “I had something else I wanted to ask you.”
Stephanie slapped his hand away.
“Maxwell, I told you, I brought Belinda here for a checkup today. Belinda needed surgery,” Stephanie said coldly.
But Maxwell firmly blocked her way.
Belinda was still looking over here.
Stephanie felt a headache.
“In a couple of days, I’ll go to Estrella’s wine tasting. If there’s anything you want to ask, I’ll explain it to you then.”
Stephanie looked at his dark eyes: “Maxwell, don’t make me hate you.”
After she finished talking, Stephanie walked around Maxwell and headed over to Belinda and Patrick in the corner.
Maxwell wanted to say–something else, but Stephanie’s words just kept echoing in his mind.

He turned around, watched her leave holding Belinda’s hand, and felt weird.
When did they become like this?
Stephanie knew Maxwell had been watching her.
Whether it was Belinda glancing back again and again, or his prickly gaze, both reminded her of his presence.
That’s it.
It wasn’t long.
Once they got the divorce certificate, they had nothing to do with each other anymore.
Patrick looked at the mother and daughter next to him, and he also felt a bit complicated.
He saw the rumors between her and Jeremiah.
He knew she didn’t have any feelings for Jeremiah, and she never did anything that could be misunderstood.
But he was a guy, and he pretty much got what Jeremiah was thinking.
To be honest.
He was a bit jealous.
But…
He still hoped she’d be happy.

Thinking about it, Patrick looked at Belinda, who was lying softly on Stephanie’s shoulder, and said, “Belinda, later go with uncle for a checkup. If you feel uncomfortable, tell uncle.”

Belinda turned around, her big round eyes looking at Patrick.
“Thank you, uncle,” Belinda said.
Then, it was a series of checkups.
All the results would come out later, so Stephanie just took Belinda back first.
All the way home, cooked, finished dinner.
Belinda and Stephanie sat on the couch watching TV together.
What was on TV was a cartoon.
Belinda really liked it.
It wasn’t until night fell that Stephanie drove Belinda back. Right before getting out of the car, Belinda hesitated and looked at her.
Stephanie knew Belinda had something to say.
“What’s wrong?” Stephanie parked the car and looked at Belinda seriously.
“Auntie Stephanie,” Belinda said softly, “what was up with that weird uncle today? He… seemed to know you.”
Stephanie didn’t answer right away, she just looked at Belinda’s big
eyes.
Outside the car window, the wind blew hard and made the leaves
rustle.
Under the dim streetlights, people walked by slowly. Their laughter and talking came into the car, bringing a kind of unreal feeling.
Stephanie was thinking about whether to tell Belinda the truth.

After hesitating for a while, Stephanie still decided to tell the truth.
After all, Belinda was going to live with me later, and she would hear about these things anyway, plus Maxwell might go to Belinda again.
Belinda was different from the other kids, she was a bit more mature and could understand a lot of things.
Thinking like that, Stephanie held Belinda’s hand and said, “Belinda, he was my husband.”
Seeing Belinda’s confused look, Stephanie added, “But in 9 days, we’ll be completely separated, so Belinda doesn’t need to pay attention to him.”
