Soon I arrived downstairs of the apartment complex.

Patrick was going to walk Stephanie upstairs.

But when she got to the elevator, Stephanie looked back at Patrick.

“Patrick, sorry to trouble you today;” Stephanie said. “I’ll treat you to a meal another day.”

But Patrick just looked down at her, “I’ll walk you upstairs.

“You knew what I meant, nothing else mattered,” Patrick said.

Of course Stephanie understood what Patrick meant. If she let Patrick go up, or even let him stay at her place for the night, judging from what Maxwell just did, he would definitely be really mad.

But she didn’t want to.

On one hand, they were getting the divorce certificate tomorrow, and she didn’t want any extra trouble.

On the other hand, she didn’t have any feelings for Patrick, and there was no need for any rumors beyond being friends.

The red elevator stopped at 11, Stephanie’s floor, and Patrick finally let go of Maxwell’s wrist.

“I’ll walk with you,” Patrick said. “Give me a ride?”

On one hand, he said he wouldn’t go up after Maxwell left.

On the other hand, he wanted to take Maxwell away.

Maxwell squinted his eyes, looked Patrick up and down, then glanced at the elevator on the side, and finally agreed.

Then he looked at Edgar, then at Maxwell, and smiled, saying, “We’re in trouble.”

The car headed toward the hospital.

Patrick looked at Maxwell, thought for a moment, and finally he said, “There was nothing between me and her.”

Maxwell finally opened his eyes and looked at Patrick.

“I did it on purpose.” Patrick looked at him with a faint smile and said. “I just couldn’t stand you bullying her, so I pissed you off on purpose.”

Maxwell frowned.

“What you saw in the hospital was that she was hurt, and I was just helping her,” Patrick said.

But Maxwell didn’t believe it.

He was a man too, so he knew exactly what men thought.

“It’s true.” Patrick smiled, “Otherwise I didn’t need to tell you this.”

“I just hoped that after you got the divorce certificate tomorrow, you’d still remember how good she was to you, and not help Roxanne bully her,” Patrick said seriously.

Maxwell saw that Patrick looked serious and didn’t seem to be faking it, so he lowered his eyes a little.

“We weren’t that kind of people,” he said.

As long as she listened.

Patrick opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but he didn’t. He just quietly looked out the car window.

“Bang bang!”

In the city night sky, suddenly, lots and lots of fireworks went off.
