The swelling on his face was gone, but Stephanie hit hard, so there were still some pretty ugly marks left.
He told Edgar, Cancel this morning’s schedule.
Because Roxanne agreed to go check out the nursing home with him.
Five months.
Maxwell told himself.
Then I got up and drove to pick up Roxanne to go to the nursing home.
The two of them walked into the sanatorium. At that moment, in an office, Jacquelyn was on the phone with Stephanie.
She felt really glad when she found out Stephanie was willing to change herself.
“These last few times you came over, I did feel that you were getting better and better. That was a good thing.”
Jacquelyn was talking and looked up, and just happened to see Maxwell, who had come along with Roxanne.
On the other side, Stephanie was looking at Belinda while talking to Jacquelyn.
“Yeah, Dr. Merrill, I thought I was a lot more stabi too.” Stephanie said softly, and what came to her mind was the scene from last night when Belinda and Lennon were drawing together.
“Maybe I should start a new relationship too,” she said.

But Jacquelyn over there didn’t say anything, which made Stephanie feel a little weird.
In the nursing home, Maxwell had already knocked on the office door and was standing at the door with Roxanne.
Jacquelyn was the doctor treating Stephanie, and she knew a bit about what happened between Stephanie and Maxwell.
And Stephanie’s husband, Maxwell, that big name in Haraville, she knew him well too.
So…
What did Maxwell bring Roxanne here for?
After thinking for a bit, Jacquelyn said to Stephanie on the phone, “Something came up here, sorry, can I call you back later?”
Stephanie didn’t think much about it and just nodded, saying okay.
After she hung up, Jacquelyn looked at Maxwell and Roxanne by the door.
“Is something up?” Jacquelyn asked.
Maxwell frowned a little. Didn’t they make an appointment with the doctor?
Roxanne on one side was about to say something, then there was the sound of footsteps.
“Sorry.” Another staff member came over, “We jus ave you someone else’s number. This is the right one.”
The staff switched the number back, and Maxwell finally got it.

“Sorry,” the staff said to the two of them, then nodded to Jacquelyn.
Maxwell then took Roxanne to the office next door.
Jacquelyn walked out and exchanged a look with the staff.
“The new guy messed things up again.” The other person said speechlessly, “He even got the number wrong. I was really speechless. I had to clean up his mess.
Jacquelyn smiled and said, “She came here to gain experience, just be more tolerant.”
“No way, I had to go report this to the higher–ups and get him transferred to some idle position. If he kept doing this stuff every day. it would drive me crazy.” After saying that, the other person left in a hurry.
Jacquelyn watched the other person leave, then her eyes fell on the next table.
