Roxanne thought for a moment, then said shyly in a low voice, “Max, aren’t you going to walk me upstairs?”

Roxanne was inviting him to her place.

Adults‘ invitations didn’t need to be spelled out.

Maxwell’s hand stopped tapping on the steering wheel, and he glanced at Roxanne.

He didn’t speak right away, just looked at Roxanne.

This made Roxanne a little nervous inside.

The elevator went up all the way, and Roxanne got back home.

She saw Maxwell walk back to the car from the window, and there was a flash of smugness in her eyes.

She remembered all the things she did earlier that night after she got the news that Stephanie was pregnant.

Roxanne suddenly stood up, which made the caregivers next to her really surprised. The caregivers didn’t know why Roxanne, who was just full of energy, suddenly got so irritable.
