Before Monte could enter the platform, Ken caught him.
“Let go of me.” Monte struggled desperately and shouted toward the passers-by, “Help! Someone’s trying to kidnap me.”
The passers-by looked over warily.
“I’m not kidnapping him.” Ken flashed a smile at the passers-by. “I’m a police on duty. This person is involved in huge transnational gambling and money laundering, and he’s planning to flee.”
“No. I–”
Before Monte could finish his sentence, Ken had covered his mouth. At the same time, someone searched Monte’s bag, and piles of notes dropped out of it.
The passers-by who were originally doubtful about the situation immediately kept quiet.
After all, if Monte were not involved in crime, why would he bring so much money to the train? He must be planning to flee.
“Let’s go.”
Ken dragged Monte out of the train station and shoved him into the car.
Charity was in the passenger seat, while Chester was the driver.
“So you called me over just to see him, huh?” When Charity saw Monte, there was a hint of surprise in her eyes.
“Look how the arrogant Young Master Patterson you saw yesterday has fallen.” Looking at Monte, Chester grinned. “Didn’t he tease you about your old age yesterday? Sigh. He should take a look at himself. He’s already in his 30s, yet he’s always surrounded by women. How f*cking disgusting. Weren’t you infected with HIV? You won’t even hold back despite the infection, huh?”
Charity said, “Monte, calling you trash is an overstatement. Do you know that an innocent girl used to be truly in love with you? If you were just playing around, you shouldn’t have gotten together with her and claimed that you loved her. Not all women want your money. She just wanted your love, and to her, you were her everything. She might be silly, but you’re awful. She committed suicide for your sake, yet you thought she was putting on an act.”
Monte knew that she was referring to Eliza, but little did he know that the real Eliza had lost her life during the suicide.
“You really deserve to die.” Charity sighed lightly. “You should spend the rest of your life in jail.”
When Monte heard he was going to jail, he was so frightened that he sprang toward Charity. “Eliza, I’m sorry. I’ve learned my mistakes, so please let me go. I have lots of money. I can give it all to you.”
“How could she possibly let you go? She’s the one who wants you dead so badly.” Chester laughed. “Why do you think the Jeffs family from Newcastle wanted to work with you even though your family was nearly facing bankruptcy? He was solely interested in your family’s hotel business. His family has hotels all over the world, and their business is a lot better than yours.”
Monte was momentarily stunned. Then, a thought crossed his mind. “When I met up with Hugo for dinner that year, we bumped into Catherine, Freya, you, and…”
