Kelly’s POV
The doctor assured me that the baby inside me is safe. When the doctor visited me, I asked her about the baby even if Pierce already told about it. Another doctor, a gyne, prescribed me vitamins and told me about the things I should do like exercise. After my heart to heart talk with Pierce, I fell asleep and woke up with a delicious scent of food. I saw Pierce preparing the food while standing in front of the bedside table.
He glanced at me and smiled when he saw me looking. “You’re hungry?”
I nodded and smiled back. “Yes.”
He finished preparing the food and sat on the bed beside me. He helped me sit on the bed before he started feeding me. He was also feeding himself using the same spoon and I couldn’t help but stare at him.
“Mom called,” Pierce said while we’re eating. “Snow’s enjoying her school. I guess we just have to let her finish her schooling there and just bring her here every summer.”
I smiled and nodded at him. “That’s a good idea. It’s better for her to stay there since the environment here won’t help her. The news about the mess is still circulating around. I don’t want her to get affected by what happened.”
“That’s what I thought too.”
We continued eating. After that, I rested again and asked Pierce to lay on the bed beside me. We slept next to each other. I slept peacefully next to him while hugging his waist. When I opened my eyes again, Pierce was still sleeping peacefully and someone was sitting on the chair beside the bed on my side.
“Sara...”
It looked like she’s falling asleep while sitting but when she heard my voice, she lifted her face and looked at me. She sighed while staring at my face. I don’t know what she’s thinking but the calmness in her eyes comforted me.
“You looked like your mom when she was your age.”
I smile curved in my lips. “Dad said too.”
Finally, she gave me a smile but it turned into a bitter one. “I’m sorry...”
I took a deep breath. “You didn’t do anything.”
“That’s why I’m sorry. I’m sorry because I didn’t do anything.”
I swallowed hard.
Forgiveness. Is it always hard to give to people who just don’t deserve it that’s why it’s hard to give? Sara didn’t do anything. She was a victim too. She was manipulated by her own brother and fooled by her husband. Her husband only wants her wealth and I know now that she discovered it already.
Sara sniffed and looked down, staring at her fingers. “I was blinded by my love for my husband. I even tried to...cover him up. If not for Mason...I wouldn’t be here asking for forgiveness.”
“We were all wounded and manipulated by the same person, Sara. You’re not at fault.”
She lifted her face and looked at me. “You are brave and smart like your mom and I envy her for having a daughter like you.”
I smiled at her. “You can be a mother to my children, Sara. I’m not kicking you out of my life. I actually want you to meet my family. I want you to feel my daughter’s embrace and experience her love.”
My lips parted when our gazes met but her blank eyes didn’t recognize me.
Emily got discharged before me and she didn’t regain her memories at all. The doctor said it may take time but he also said that it may not come back anymore. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not. She already lost a child before and if she learned that she lost another child, she’d be devastated. But...without her memories, her life would be tied to her painful past.
A man appeared behind her. Emily took her sunglasses down and angrily looked at Matt who’s smiling at her from ear to ear.
“What are you doing here, you stalker?”
Matt smiled even more. “I’m stalking you. What else?”
Matt doesn’t want to let her go and even if she doesn’t remember him, he’s patient. He didn’t dare tell her about their relationship anymore but I know that he’s not giving up on her.
Another man appeared, looking so badass with his black leather jacket, a total opposite of Matt who’s wearing white dress shirt and black slacks.
Mason’s still guilty about what happened to Emily. He’s now taking care of her, following her around and keeping her safe. I don’t know what’s the deal between the three of them but I’m happy that even if Emily doesn’t remember me, she has two people who care for her.
Pierce’s arm wrapped around my waist, earning my attention. I looked up at him and smiled. “Let’s go?”
He nodded and kissed my temple. “Hmm! I booked a reservation at a restaurant.”
Before leaving, I glanced at Emily, Mason and Matt once again. They’re arguing but I’m happy because I know that my cousins will protect my friend and will keep her safe all the time. I just hope that if ever her memories come back, she’ll forgive herself and live the happy life she deserves.
