Chapter 108
Ivy’s POV
My head spun and my stomach churned. The words Max had just let slip hung in the air like a poisonous cloud, suffocating me. Taylor drugged Asher. Framed him. Slept with Max. It wasn’t Asher.
It was never him. The anger I had carried for so long, the hatred I had aimed squarely at my husband, evaporated in an instant, replaced by a heavy, crushing guilt that made my chest ache. He had tried to tell me. He had tried to explain. And I didn’t listen.
My mind reeled, jumping back to that moment, the moment where we had resolved our issues. The time he had bound me to the bed. When he finally loosened the restraints, I was breathless, ready to lash out.
But something stopped me. Maybe it was the look in his eyes, raw and pleading. Or the way his hands trembled as he undid the last cuff.
“I’m sorry, flower,” he had murmured, his voice breaking. “For the stupid stunt I tried to pull earlier. I promise you I’d never have gone on with it. I don’t like her. I don’t like anyone. I don’t want anyone. I only want you.”
My heart had cracked wide open at those words. I reached forward, cupping his face, but he shook his head, pulling away slightly.
“No,” he had said, his voice low but determined. “As much as I’d like to fuck you senseless right now, I need to make things right first. I want to be worthy of you. Give me a chance to prove to you that I didn’t do it.”
And I had believed him.
Fast forward, and there he was, so unsettled about inviting Max over to bait him. He was strongly against found out I was going to be seductive. But I had assured him I was in control.

Now, standing in my apartment, staring at Max’s wide eyes and slack jaw as he stammered, “Shit, shit, shit,” it all came crashing down.
I shot up from my chair, the sound of it scraping loudly against the floor. “Oh, my God!” I gasped, panic lacing my the realization hit me hard.
My hands flew to my mouth as
“Ivy, wait,” Max started, his hands raised in a pathetic attempt to calm me.
“Don’t you dare!” I snapped, my voice shaking with a mix of fury and disbelief.
At that exact moment, the front door burst open, and Asher stormed in like a force of nature. “You son of a bitch!” he roared, charging at him.
I was stunned into silence. I couldn’t even react. I was rooted to the spot, goosebumps spreading all over my body.
Asher’s fist collided with Max’s jaw, the sickening sound echoing in the room. Max stumbled back, clutching his face, but Asher wasn’t done. He grabbed Max by the collar, slamming him against the wall.
“You ruined me!” Asher shouted, his voice thunderous. Another punch landed, and Max grunted in pain. “You ruined my life, my marriage, my everything!”
“Asher, stop it!” I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes.
But Asher didn’t stop. He kept hitting Max, his rage/consuming him. “You framed me! You poisoned her against me! And for what? For her?”
Max coughed, blood dripping from his split lip. “Asher, I-” “Shut up!” Asher growled, slamming him again. “You don’t get to talk. You don’t get to explain.”
I ran over, grabbing Asher’s arm, pulling with all my strength. “Please, stop! You’re going to kill him!”
It took everything I had to drag Asher away.

Chapter 108
Max slid to the floor, groaning in pain, his face a mess of bruises and blood. He managed to scramble to his feet and stagger toward the door, not daring to look back.
As soon as the door slammed shut, I turned to Asher. He was breathing heavily, his hands still clenched into fists, his knuckles bruised and red.
“Asher,” I whispered, my voice breaking.
His eyes softened when they met mine, and before I could say anything else, he pulled me into his arms. I buried my face in his chest, the tears I had been holding back spilling out. “I’m sorry,” I choked out, over and over again. “I’m so sorry, Asher.”
He held me tightly, his hand running up and down my back, and then he pulled back slightly, just enough to tilt my chin up so I was looking at him.
His eyes were filled with a mix of anger, hurt, and something else, something darker, more primal, as they stared into my eyes.
“Ivy,” he said, his voice low and husky. “I’m going to punish you.”
