Chapter 55
Chapter 55
Mar’s Por
I drove into the parking lot of the hotel just behind Taylor. I jumped out of the car and rushed inwards her. “Taylort You’ve got to give me a fucking explanation. I just drove a high man in his own car after abducting him from the club to a hotel we are going to get arrested!”
She got out of my car and slammed the door. “If you keep yelling at the top of your voice, the police are going to come in earlier, and the arrest is going to happen quicker than you think!”
My heart was beating faster in my chest. She had a point. I had to calm down. There could be CCTV I glanced around nervously and looked away the moment caught a glimpse of one, subtly hidden away from view. I took a deep breath.
“if you want me to act calmly about this, you’ve got to give me an explanation that makes sense at least, I told her in a controlled voice. “What did you do to him?”
“sipped something into his drink,” she answered simply. She walked up to Asher’s car and opened the passenger seat wh
the chair, sweat trickling down his forehead, his eyes closed shut.
Panic set in again when I saw what state he was in. “What did you give him?”
She shrugged nonchalantly. “Some drug. I don’t know the name…
My jaw dropped. “What the heck? How can you give him something and you don’t know is it going to kill him?”
She rolled her eyes and palmed her forehead. “What would I get out of killing him?”
don’t know” I yelled. “You’re making all the decisions. I think maybe the plan has changed!”
She brushed past me and crouched in front of Asher. She slapped his checks to rouse him. “Hey, wake up…”
He stirred, and when his eyelids fluttered open, his eyes were red.
She turned to look at me. “Are you going to help me, or are you going to stand there and watch like I’m putting on a show?”
“I have a lot of questions that need answers. What are we going to do to him?” I glanced at the hotel entrance. “How are we going to get him past those doors without raising eyebrows!“”
“The longer we stay out here, the worse it will pot for us. There’s a barely conscious man in our cat. We need to get him out of here and into the hotel, and maybe I can find the time to answer your questions. How about that?” she asked, folding her arms across her chest.
I wanted to protest. There was a lot I wanted to say, but I was knee–deep in this already. I mean, I drove the man down here myself, I was already an accomplice, whether I liked it or not. The only thing that was left was for me to make sure we didn’t get caught.
I let out a defeated sigh, grabbed his hand, and brought him to his feet, by put his arm around her neck and the other around lead him out.
and began to
Ishut the car and rushed after her, keeping a small distance between us. At that point, I was thinking if things went sideways, I was going to bolt.
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from Taylor. She moved through the reception with confidence like I had never seen. Every gesture was deliberate She cupped Asher’s checks and whispered, “You had too much to drink, babe,” a loving look in her eyes. I stared at her, tongue–tied. Asher was stumped against her shoulder, half–conscious, his arm limp around her neck. His shirt collar was damp with sweat, and his head lolled forward like a puppet with its strings cut
“Don’t worry about him,” Taylor said to the receptionist, her voice smooth and persuasive. She shied Asher slightly, angling his face away from prying eyes. “He’s had a long night. Just make sure no one knows we’re here,”

She slid a stack of bills across the counter, and the receptionist, a wide–eyed kid barely out of his teens, nodded too quickly.
“Of course, Ms. Taylor, Total discretion.”
I swallowed hard, my heart racing in my chest as I stood off to the side, hall hidden behind a potted plant. Ms. Taylor, She was a regular here, and if the receptionist didn’t bat an eyelid, then maybe they had done this dance one too many times. Watching her operate was like witnessing a predator with its prey. There was something hypnotic about her–something terrifying, too.
She glanced my way, her eyes locking onto mine for a brief moment, and then she slowly broke into a sinister smile. I swallowed.
We rode the elevator up in silence. I was preoccupied with my thoughts and the loud thumping of my heartbeat in my chest. She kept her arm Ermly around him, supporting his weight, while I lingered behind them, unsure what to do with my hands or my thoughts. The faint hum of the elevator felt deafening in the quiet
When we reached the room, she pushed the door open with her hip and guided him inside. The suite was expensive–plush carpets, oversized furniture, and a view of the city. It screamed luxury. I hesitated in the doorway, unsure if I should follow.
“Close the door,” she said, her tone clipped.
Tobeyed. For some reason, I watched her, frozen. I didn’t have any questions to ask. I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. The events of the night had left me tongue–tied. I kept glancing at the door, waiting for someone to burst through. Hotel security? Asher’s bodyguards? The police? Anyone!
She wasted no time. She dragged him to the bed and started stripping him down, her movements efficient and detached. Shirt off, pants next. He groaned softly, his head rolling to the side, but he didn’t resist.
I watched, still frozen in place. The way she moved, the way she handled him.
