Asher’s POV
My heart leapt the moment lvy sauntered into my room, wrapped in a pale pink robe. Though we were still officially sleeping apart–her decision, het mine – I had asked her countless times to move in.
Something was holding her back, but that didn’t stop us from spending nearly every other night together. I always looked forward to those evenings. rushed home early every day, eager for our routine: a movie before bed or simply talking until we fell asleep.
Tonight was no different.
She beamed as she entered; her smile lighting up the room. Slowly, she slipped off her robe, revealing the flimsy nightdress underneath.
“I had quite the day…” she began, climbing into bed.
My gaze locked onto hers. “Tell me all about it,” I encouraged, my voice low and eager.
She tucked her hair behind her ear, leaning closer. “It was Taylor,” she said, her tone exasperated.
I rolled my eyes and sighed deeply. “What did that bitch do this time?” tmuttered under my breath.
Ivy laid back, resting her legs on my thighs. “What hasn’t she done?”
I began massaging her feet, my fingers working gentle circles into her skin. “Flower, you don’t have to keep working with her,” I said softly. “She’s just trying to get under your skin. You can’t let her win.”
“She’ll only win if I give up,” Ivy said with determination. “That’s what she wants. She wants me to quit, but I won’t. I love my job, Asher, and I earned it fair and square. I’m not going to let her take that away from me.”
Her words were fierce, but as I hit the right spot on her foot, she let out a satisfied purr.
I chuckled, my lips curling into a smile. “Do that again,” I whispered, reaching up to brush my fingers against her cheek.
Her eyelids fluttered open, and she smiled–a wide, radiant smile that made my chest tighten. She was breathtaking.
“You’re perfect, Flower,” I murmured.
A deep blush crept up her cheeks, and she tried to hide her smile, but I caught it.
I exhaled, my hand brushing hers. “There’s something I need to tell you,” I said, my voice quieter now, more serious. “It’s been on my mind for a while.”
Her expression shifted immediately, worry creasing her brow. “What is it, Asher? You know you can tell me anything.”
I wished that were true. There was so much I needed to tell her, but I didn’t know where to start–or how she’d react. My chest tightened with the weight
of what I hadn’t said, but I pushed forward.
Taking her hand in mine, I brought it to my lips and kissed it gently. “Flower,” I began, my voice soft but steady.
She looked up at me, her curious eyes wide and waiting.
“For the longest time, I’ve wanted to tell you this. I just… I wasn’t sure how you’d react, so I held back.” 1 hesitated for a brief moment before continuing, my thumb brushing over her knuckles. “Flower I…”
Her eyes widened further, the anticipation making her hold her breath.
I couldn’t help but chuckle nervously. “I love you.”

Chapter 801
The words spilled out, and I felt an overwhelming sense of relief. It was as though a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Finally, I’d said it Finally!
she knew.
“I have loved you for the longest time now,” I confessed, my voice filled with emotion. “I love everything about you. I couldn’t possibly fist it all. But what- I feel for you? It’s whole. It’s true. And it’s real.”
I cupped her face gently, brushing a stray lock of hair away from her eyes. “I want to do life with you, Ivy. For real this time–no games, no contracts, no tricks. Just us. I love you, Ivy Whitfield.”
She stared at me, her expression dazed, her lips curving into the faintest hint of a smile. Our eyes locked, and for that moment, the world faded away.
There was no noise, no distractions only us. Only the unspoken words reflected in her gaze and the sparks that danced where our fingers intertwined.
Nothing else mattered but her.
And then, she broke into a full smile, her eyes glistening with emotion. “I love you too, Asher, with all of my heart,” she whispered, her voice barely
audible but filled with conviction.
My eyes widened in disbelief. “Are you for real?” I asked, stunned. I knew she liked me–there was always an attraction between us–but love? Was it enough for her to say those words back to me? Did she truly understand what it meant to love someone? What it meant to love me?
“You don’t have to say it back just because l-‘
She cupped my cheeks gently, a small, knowing grin tugging at her lips. “Is it so hard to believe that I love you, Asher Sterling?”
1 stared at her, processing her words. After a moment, I smirked, shaking my head. “Well, yes! You’ve told me you hated me more times than I can count over the years.”
She giggled, the sound light and musical. “Well… only a little bit.” She pinched her thumb and index finger together, her smile playful. “Only a little bit.”
I chuckled, pulling her closer. “I’ll take it. As long as you love me now, that’s all I care about.” My eyes lit up with an idea, and I jumped out of bed, planting a sloppy kiss on her lips. “You know what this moment calls for? Wine!”
She laughed softly as I dashed out of the room, determined to make this moment perfect.
When I returned, a bottle of wine in one hand and two glasses in the other, a grin tugged at my lips. “Flower,” I teased playfully, my tone laced with mischief. “I have an idea of what we should-”
But my smile faded instantly.
She was standing frozen, clutching her phone so tightly I thought it might shatter in her grasp. Her face had gone pale, her wide eyes brimming with disbelief.
“Flower?” I called softly, my heart beginning to race. I set the wine and glasses down hastily and crossed the room to her side. She didn’t move, didn’t even glance at me. “Are you okay, babe?”
And then I saw it.
My stomach twisted as my eyes landed on her phone screen. A picture – me and Taylor. My breath hitched as I reached for the device. I scrolled through, dread sinking deep into my chest. There were more pictures of me and Taylor, naked in bed. Pictures I hadn’t seen before. Pictures I didn’t even remember taking.
My mind reeled. How many were there? Why didn’t I remember this happening?
“I… Iv- Ivy,” I stammered, the words catching in my throat. My mind scrambled for an explanation, but nothing made sense. All I could Taylor–her promise to keep this a secret. She’d asked for things in exchange, and I’d given in without hesitation to buy myself time.
of was
This wasn’t supposed to happen–not now. Not when I’d just told Ivy I loved her.

“Wait!” I called, chasing after her. “Ivy, please, just listen to me!” My voice cracked, but she didn’t stop.
When I reached her, she was in her room, shoving clothes into a suitcase with frantic, jerky moverments. My chest tightened, panic clawing at me
“It didn’t mean anything,” I pleaded desperately. “I was drunk–I don’t even remember how it happened!”
