Bonds at War: The Untouched is Mine novel Chapter 345

Chapter 345 Fight

LUNA

I’m acting like a child?I asked. The nerve of him!

Then maybe you shouldn’t have taken me here, you old man.

That made his brows knit together. Old man?he echoed.

I scoffed. Yeah. You heard me.I jabbed a finger at his chest, ignoring the solid feel of it under my touch. You keep treating me like a child, so maybe that’s how I should treat you. You’re ten years older, right? Wiser, smarter, more powerfulall that noble Alpha nonsense. You have more at stake than I do. You have a faction to protect, a reputation, enemies lined up to see you fall.

Luna-

Don’t Luname!I snapped. The words came rushing out like they’d been caged for too long. You have all of that, Abel, and I get it. I really do. But would it kill you to acknowledge that I’m here too? That I exist? That I’m not just some pawn you dragged along because it was convenient?

His frown deepened. “That’s not what this is.

Then what is it?I demanded. Because I sure as hell don’t know anymore. You brought me here, to your world, your people, your messand then what? You talk to everyone but me. And the only time you look at me is when I’ve somehow done something wrong in your eyes!

He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling sharply. You’re overreacting.

Overreacting?I repeated. You’re unbelievable!

I didn’t even realize I’d taken a step back until my heel dug into the dirt. My chest hurt from that horrible, fragile thing underneath it. I could feel the tears prickling at the corners of my eyes. I hated that. I hated that every time I got emotional, my body betrayed me like this.

Why is it,” I whispered, my voice trembling slightly, that every time I actually try to tell you something, you shut down? You look away. You pretend it’s not important. Do you have idea how humiliating that feels?

He stared at me for a long time, his breathing uneven. For a moment, I thought he was going to say something, but instead, he just turned his gaze aside, lips pressed in a flat line.

That silence broke something in me.

Of course,I said bitterly, laughing under my breath. You’re not going to answer. You never do. Why did I even think tonight would be different?

Would it hurt you,I continued, to just show that you care? To actually act like it?

The tears slipped free before I could stop them. I turned away quickly, wiping my face with the back of my hand, angry at myself for letting him see me like this. I hated crying in front of anyone, and I realized I hated crying in front of him more than anything.

Let’s go back,he said finally, ignoring my rant.

He reached for my wrist again, but this time I yanked it back with more force than he expected. Don’t,I snapped. Don’t touch me like that.

He froze, his eyes darkening. I’m not going to argue with you here. You’re upset. Let’s talk when-

When what? When it’s convenient for you?I bit out. When you’re done pretending I don’t matter?

His nostrils flared, and for a second, I saw the Alpha flicker through. However, I wasn’t part of his pack. I wasn’t one of his subordinates.

I’m trying not to fight with you,he said. But you’re making it damn hard.

Maybe that’s because you only ever talk when I’ve had enough!I fired back.

He stared at me then. Luna,he said again, but I shook my head.

No,” I said, my throat aching. You don’t get to call my name like that when you won’t even look at me properly.

I turned away, wiping another tear. I didn’t want to cry anymore.

Behind me, I heard his footsteps shift closer. Let’s go back,” he said again, firmer now. It’s cold. You’ll get sick.”

That made me laugh, bitterly. That’s all you have to say? After everything I just said?

Just then, I saw Elias coming out of the venue from afar. Without thinking, I ripped my free from Abel’s grip and bolted.

Luna!he called after me. The sound of his footsteps echoed behind me, but adrenaline

fueled me faster than reason ever could.

My shoes weren’t made for running, but I didn’t care. All I saw ahead was Elias, his tall frame unlocking his car and slipping into the driver’s seat.

Elias!I shouted, breathless.

He looked up, startled, and before he could even register what was happening, I yanked the car door open and threw myself inside, slamming it shut behind me.

He turned to me, eyes wide in shock. Luna?

Hi,I panted, gripping the seatbelt but not putting it on yet.

What the hell?He turned toward the windshield, confusion written all over his face. What are you doing?

Then his words stopped dead when he caught sight of somethingor rather, someone- outside.

Abel.

He was stalking toward us. His strides were calm, which somehow made it worse.

Oh, shit,Elias muttered under his breath. You’re kidding me.”
