Skyler suddenly felt a complicated wave of emotions.
He had just given that very property to Valerie not too long ago.
He hadn't expected Lucius to be willing to pay twice the market price to buy it.
Was this just a coincidence, or something more? Why would both Valerie and Lucius take an interest in the same property?
Suppressing his rising doubts, Skyler asked, "Why does Mr. White suddenly want to buy that place?"
Sonia dodged the question. "Who cares why he wants to buy it? We just need to take the money."
Skyler snapped, "I already gave that place to Valerie!"
Sonia and Jay exclaimed in unison, "Why would you give it to her?"
With things as they were, Skyler had no choice but to tell his children about the deal he had made with Sonia.
After hearing the full story, both Jay and Sonia were stunned.
Jay said, "But Mom said the reason why I miraculously recovered is because she's been praying for me every day."
Skyler let out a cold laugh. "Did you actually believe that nonsense?"
Sonia couldn't accept the truth. "Dad, you have to do whatever it takes to get that property back. We must sell it to Mr. White."
Her demand made Skyler laugh bitterly. "Even if I wanted to, I couldn't get it back. And even if I did get it back, the property wasn't under my name. It was under Valerie's mother, Lilith."
Sonia collapsed onto the couch in despair. "How could this happen? Why is this happening?"
She pointed at Jay furiously. "It's all because of this sickly brat. You ruined my entire life! Do any of you even know the secret behind that property?"
Her eyes blazed with anger. She hadn't expected the dilapidated place, which had been left idle for more than 20 years, would suddenly become a treasure everyone was fighting to own.
That secret had only recently begun circulating among the elite.
When Sonia first went to Azure Bay to meet Lucius, she hadn't known about it.
