Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO novel Chapter 744

Chapter 744: A wrathful promise.

Arwen was sitting and frowning in the car when her phone vibrated again. When she checked, Ivy’s name was flashing on the screen.

"Hello!" she answered, sliding the icon to connect the call.

"Ms. Quinn, once again, we are really sorry." Ivy’s voice carried genuine regret.

Arwen’s lips curled up in a faint smile as she shook her head and replied softly. "Please don’t be. Dr. Calvin is a reputed doctor. It’s only right for him to prioritize saving lives. I can understand the situation that happened today."

"Still, we knew you were waiting to know about your reports," Ivy spoke again, her voice still as polite as ever. "If an emergency surgery hadn’t been scheduled in the evening, your appointment with Dr. Calvin wouldn’t have gotten postponed like this."

"It’s fine. You can always schedule another appointment," Arwen replied, though her voice lacked excitement.

Ivy hummed on the other end of the line. "Yes, and that’s for what I am calling you." She paused before adding again, "I have scheduled your appointment tomorrow afternoon as early as possible."

"Tomorrow?" Arwen asked, a little surprised. "Won’t Dr. Calvin need some rest after attending a critical surgery like that?" Her brows were tugged together in concern.

"Oh, this is what Dr. Calvin has asked me to arrange," Ivy replied. "Since he has asked me to set your appointment, I guess he wouldn’t have a problem."

Arwen thought for a moment before she nodded in approval. "Okay then. I will be there on time."

And with that, they hung up the call.

Alfred didn’t know what had happened, but just hearing the disappointed tone of Arwen, his brows furrowed, and he asked, "Madam, is everything alright?"

Arwen shook her head. "Oh, it’s nothing. I am fine." Although she said that, she was feeling disheartened. Since yesterday, she was thinking that she would finally get to know it all, but in the end, all she got was a postponement.

Her thoughts spiralled when suddenly, a blinding flash of headlights cut across her vision. Her pupils dilated in alarm, and her head whipped forward —straight into the sight of a truck barrelling towards them.

Panic clawed her chest before she screamed. "Alfred, be careful!"

Alfred jerked the wheel, but the truck was coming too fast, too direct —with an intent clear.

And all that was heard next was the deafening screech of brakes and the violent impact of metal against metal.

Meanwhile, after leaving East Serenity Residence, Aiden has returned to his company. He was immersed in work when a knock came at his office door.

"Come in," he said without looking up.

Emyr entered, walking respectfully towards the desk. "Sir, the report you requested is ready." He set the file down, sliding it across the polished surface of the desk.

Aiden didn’t touch it immediately. He finished signing the document in front of him first. Only then did he reach for the file, flipping it open. His sharp eyes scanned every detail with hawk-like precision.

Finally, he closed it and spoke in his low, commanding voice. "Tell them to proceed."

"Yes, sir." Emyr nodded. He then turned to leave. But the moment he took a step towards the door, his phone vibrated. He paused to check before picking up the call with ease.

Emyr also rushed following him. Reaching the reception desk, he quickly inquired, "Hello, we got a call from the hospital notifying us about —"

Before he could finish, the nurse who was standing there spoke up. "Are you here looking for the patient who got involved in the accident?"

Emyr turned to her and nodded. "Yes. Can you tell us where they are?"

The nurse’s eyes flickered nervously to Aiden, who stood just behind him, his gaze sharp and unreadable. She shivered, fumbling in her words, and only spoke when Emyr pressed again, his tone more urgent.

"Please, tell us." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

The nurse quickly nodded, pointing toward a corridor. "This way —to the emergency room. The patient isn’t in a critical state."

Emyr almost sighed in relief, but before the breath could escape him, the nurse added hesitantly —

"But ... she had lost her memories. We are still trying to determine whether it’s temporary or permanent amnesia."

The air dropped several degrees colder.

Emyr couldn’t bring himself to dare to look back at Aiden. He only moved when he saw Aiden walking past him in the direction the nurse had earlier pointed at, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles paled and his face was dark.

But apart from that darkness, there were something else in his gaze as well. A fear. A dread. And a wrathful promise to destroy whoever dared to destroy what he treasured.
