Garrison looked a little uneasy when Claire questioned him.

“It’s nothing. I’m just worried the company’s going to get busy soon, and then we’ll be scrambling.”

“But your dad’s still running things, right? It shouldn’t be a big deal.”

Clearly, Claire wasn’t on board with rushing things. Garrison was the only one pushing.

“I still think it could affect things. If we take care of it early, that’s one less thing to worry about.”

Something was definitely off about Garrison today, and Claire could feel it.

“You’re acting weird. Why are you so set on moving everything up?” she asked.

He realized she’d caught on, so he just smiled a little. “Honestly, I just want to be with you sooner. Right now, every time we see each other we have to make plans, and sometimes you’re so busy I don’t see you for days.”

His eyes were so earnest that Claire felt a pang in her chest.

“It’s just work. Once things settle down, we’ll have all the time in the world together,” she said.

Garrison nodded. “You’re right.”

They went back to talking about the engagement party, running through the details, when Garrison suddenly asked, “So, everyone who’s coming is already on the list, right? No one extra?”
