Bullied and Dumped, But She Won in the End (Adriana) novel Chapter 155

**When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn**
**Chapter 155: Nothing Special**

Adriana felt a surge of indignation bubble up inside her, almost making her laugh in disbelief. “You’re overanalyzing everything,” she said, her voice steady yet laced with irritation. “Mia broke the law. She caused harm to others. She deserves what’s coming to her, legally speaking.”

Elise’s expression darkened like a storm cloud gathering overhead. She reached into her purse, pulling out a check with a swift, practiced motion. “Fill it in yourself,” she said, her tone icy. “How much will it take for you to leave my daughter alone?”

Adriana glanced at the check, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. “Mrs. Langford, I’m well aware of your family’s wealth. But do you honestly believe you can outbid Curtis? What figure do you think you can offer that he wouldn’t easily match?”

Elise’s face transformed into a mask of cold fury. “Adriana, how long do you think your marriage to Curtis will endure?”

Adriana met her gaze with feigned innocence. “The duration of our marriage is a private matter between Curtis and me. I don’t recall inviting an outsider to weigh in on it.”

Felicia scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain. “Oh, how delightful. The moment someone like you gets a taste of power, you start to believe you’re invincible. Adriana, don’t push your luck too far. When we offer you a check, you should simply write a number and walk away.”

Adriana covered her mouth, letting out a light laugh that was both mocking and playful. She picked up the check, her gaze flickering over it before she scribbled a long series of nines.

If the Jones family truly wanted to part with nine hundred million dollars, she wouldn’t hesitate to sign a document absolving Rufus and Mia of their wrongdoings.

Felicia’s expression contorted with rage. She slammed her palm against the table, the sound echoing like a gunshot in the tense atmosphere. “Adriana, stop being ridiculous!”

With a theatrical sigh, Adriana feigned exasperation. “Look at this! I wrote a number, and now you’re all in a tizzy. If you can’t be generous, then don’t pretend to be. You claim you’d pay me to walk away, yet you won’t even part with nine hundred million for your own son? That’s just pathetic.”

Felicia raised her hand, poised to strike, but Adriana leaned forward deliberately, inviting the confrontation. “My baby is Curtis’s,” she said softly, emphasizing each word. “And Curtis knows I’m here today. Even if you manage to tamper with the restaurant’s cameras, he will find out. Go ahead, hit me. But if anything happens to the baby he desires…”

“You know Curtis only wants you because you can give him a child!” Felicia hissed, her hand freezing mid-air, as if the weight of her words had suddenly anchored her in place.

People like them only bullied those they deemed weak.

But Curtis? He was a force they certainly feared.

Natasha, seated nearby, wore an expression of discontent. “Adriana, making enemies of us won’t serve you well. Even if Rufus faces sentencing, with the inevitable reductions, he’ll be back out in a few years. But you? Why antagonize the Langfords and the Joneses?”
