Burn in the Alpha Princess’s Wrath
Chapter 404 Quiet Aftermath
Leslie’s POV
Chloe’s matter was finally settled.
:
Since she’d cried and admitted her fault, I casually spared her life.
After all, her target had been Kirby all along

I was just the unlucky one who got dragged in.
As for the other woman, Sandra, I never intended to bother with her.
When she knocked last night, the overly deliberate seductive pheromones she released made me frown, but she didn’t actually cross a line.
She didn’t show up with Chloe today, so she was probably driven off by Kirby.
Losing two female guests from the show would be a headache for Michael.
But he always finds a way to handle things; I’m too lazy to get involved in that kind of petty trouble.
I went back to my room and quickly packed my things.
I took out my phone and saw several missed calls from Astrid.
I frowned. When did I put my phone on silent?
I swiped, called her back, and she picked up in less than two rings.
“You finally answered – I was freaking out,” Astrid’s voice came through the receiver, breathless and urgent.
She hurried on, “Are you okay? Was there really something wrong with that bottle of wine? Kirby didn’t–did he do anything to you?”
I paused at the mention of the wine; vague images flashed through my mind – I remembered drinking and even video–calling Astrid.
Then I frowned in surprise. “Why would Kirby be in my room?”
Astrid froze, stammering guiltily. “Um… I was afraid you’d be in danger. I was just worried, so I had Kirby, go check on you. I was afraid that woman had put something in the wine…”
I was stunned
–
so Kirby had been the one Astrid called.

I’d thought he’d been hiding the room card on purpose, planning some kind of nighttime raid.
A small, strange feeling brushed my chest like a feather. He actually didn’t take advantage of the
situation?
Asphodel added, “He nearly moved last night, but he held himself back at the crucial moment. Good restraint otherwise I would’ve torn him up.”
–
All right then, thanks, Asphodel.
I pinched the bridge of my nose to keep that odd feeling from growing.
Astrid, hearing my silence, pressed on. “So it really was drugged? Oh no, oh no — that bastard Kirby, did he take advantage of you-”
There was a beat of silence between us after she said it.
I let out a slow breath and kept my voice calm and steady. “Don’t worry. There was only a mild hallucinogen in the wine. I’m fine. He didn’t do anything.”
Astrid relaxed audibly. “Good, good. If he’d dared to do anything, I’d cut him up with a knife!”
I laughed softly, joking, “Spare the dog a life, will you?”
Even though Kirby had helped me, I wasn’t overly grateful.
After all, I’d still been dragged into his mess!
Chloe’s scheme had been aimed at Kirby from the start that wine was intended for him.
—
I rolled my eyes inwardly, and Asphodel agreed, “Right – why should you take the blame for that scumbag’s romantic mess?”
Astrid asked, “But that woman had the gall to drug your drink? Want me to teach her a lesson?”
I tugged one corner of my mouth in a faint smile. “Thanks, but I’ve already taken care of it.”
