Bright sighed, exhaling the white smoke, his grim expressions said more than his words. It was a fact that his feelings were hurt, he must be thinking that I was a terrible person.

However, it was never my intention to break anyone’s heart, I was merely looking for a remedy for the lacerations deep in my soul.

“Can I see Jane, Drielle?”

“Oh, yeah. Why not?” Cracking my knuckles, I soothed my twitching fingers and took him to my little girl’s room. Jane was peacefully sleeping in her bed.

Without making any noise, he sat beside her, and caressed her head gently.

“Jane Bright, an aerospace enthusiast!”

The medals and certificates of my daughter puffed his chest with pride, Bright observed all the pictures in her room and spoke.

“Only my blood can be an overachiever at such a young age. How can I miss that?”

“What?” My eyebrows shot up, forming a high arch of astonishment, I found it hard to understand the meaning of Bright’s words.

“What do you mean to say, Bright?” Staring at him wide–eyed, I demanded an explanation.

A lovely smile stretching Bright’s lips reached his eyes, sparkling them like stars as he finally softened up.

“I hadn’t thought about marriage before, but now I would like to be an official part of yours and Jane’s life, Drielle.”

My heart rate hitched, swaying my soul with the honesty of his tone, this was the best outcome I could ever have. But still, I composed myself and spoke cautiously.

“I didn’t mean to baby trap you, Bright. You are a gentleman, and deserve much more than me.

I won’t force you for anything you don’t want…”

My nonstop speech was cut short by Bright’s warm touch, he placed his hands in my cheeks lovingly,
