Holding a bouquet of white roses with a ‘get well soon‘ card, I knocked at the door, his assistant invited me to come

“He must be thinking of using this meeting as my defeat before Felix’s non–existent love and cashing it in on social
media.

I walked inside and sincerely greeted Felix,
“How are you feeling today, Felix?”
Covered in bandages, Felix’s face lit up to see me, he received the flowers with thanks.
“I am feeling good now. Thanks to you, Drielle.”
“Not for long…”
I smiled professionally and sat on the bench beside his bed, inquiring about the doctors‘ opinion. I noticed that James took out his cell phone quite immediately, confirming my suspicions.
I was expressing my deepest concerns about Felix’s health when Jane and Zoe ran inside the room, chirping like birds.
“Look, Mommy!
We got juice from the hospital’s vending machine. Isn’t it cool?”
Felix’s eyes shined with fatherly love to see Zoe; he stretched his arms to call his son.
“Zoe, come here!
