Bye-bye Trash! Hello Queen! novel Chapter 162

"Darling, don't work yourself to death," Nathan said, knowing full well Wendy's capabilities. She'd never let the company fail. She had run it brilliantly since she was young, even giving him a branch to manage after they married, a move that gave him immense credibility. He had pursued her relentlessly back then precisely because she was an only child with a fortune worth hundreds of millions. Women like that craved security, and his arrival had given her just that, changing the fate of the Scott family forever. "Tomorrow, I'll go with you to meet some of my contacts. We'll sort this out."

Wendy nodded. "Thank you for understanding, dear. Your company's profits are still strong, so why don't you handle my parents' allowance for a while? They're now saying they need fifteen thousand a month to get by. It's not that I can't afford it, but right now, every penny I have needs to be carefully allocated. I've already told them to come to you if they need money from now on."

With that, she left, her voice so gentle it made Nathan's heart ache for her.

"Wait..." Nathan started to object, but Joanna stopped him. Her mother had been coming home late almost every night recently. The company must really be in trouble.

"Dad, you should cover it for a few months," Joanna whispered. "Wendy's always been a sharp businesswoman. Once she gets through this rough patch, the company will be better than ever, and she can start paying again. We can't let her get suspicious now."

"And did you take the tonic today?" Even if the Don family business went under, their real estate holdings alone were worth billions. The company headquarters was a building they owned outright.

The more he thought about it, the more he steeled his resolve. He thought about his physical condition—he hadn't been able to perform recently. The doctor said it was related to the performance-enhancing drugs he often took. The side effects were too risky, so he'd stopped, but now he couldn't get an erection at all. It was a good thing Wendy was rarely home these days; otherwise, he wouldn't even dare share a bed with her. How had he become so useless?

Mortified, Nathan stood up and went upstairs to rest. He had another hospital appointment tomorrow.

Joanna returned to her room and sat on her bed, her expression dark. Sebastian didn't believe her about Natalie poisoning Mrs. Griffith. She needed a better plan, and fast. For now, all she could do was win him over and make him trust her again. But how?
