"Then, we'll get the shares from those other three idiots. We can take over the company."
"It's a good thing we kept framing Natalie when she first came back. Wendy never gave her any shares out of guilt. Otherwise, we'd be in real trouble now."
Joanna knew that Nathan valued money more than family. If he could abandon a newborn Natalie, he could abandon her too. Only by seizing power could she ensure he wouldn't dare to cross her. She would kick them all out, one by one, and mold the world to her liking. She knew her father valued money more than his own life.
As expected, a flicker of excitement appeared in Nathan's eyes. "Joanna, let's do it. As soon as Jerome is in trouble, I'll have his shares transferred to me."
Outside the door, Wendy heard their conversation and turned away, her body trembling with rage. She walked down to the hospital lobby and watched the people coming and going, a profound sense of desolation washing over her. The husband she trusted most, the daughter she had doted on since childhood—they were plotting to destroy her entire family.
"Heh..." A cold laugh escaped her lips. The autumn wind felt sharp against her tear-streaked face. After a moment, she composed herself and called Jerome.
"Mom, is Joanna okay?" Jerome asked anxiously.
"She's not dying," Wendy snapped.
"Mom, I know you're angry. I'm on my way to grab Natalie and bring her to apologize to Joanna."
Wendy was shocked. "Jerome, did a donkey kick you in the head? Why are you blaming Natalie for your mistakes? If you hadn't sent someone to teach her a lesson, none of this would have happened!"
"What did I teach you? You're the one who did wrong, what does it have to do with Natalie? Jerome, you and Joanna are the culprits. If you dare to go after Natalie, then don't ever come back to the Scott family. You'd be no better than them, and I wouldn't care if you lived or died."
Wendy felt utterly helpless. What kind of sons had she raised?
Luna and Natalie were in the middle of a discussion about work.
Jerome stood there, momentarily stunned by the lavish office, before remembering why he had come. "Natalie," he roared, "you're coming with me to the hospital to give blood."
"Luna," Natalie said, her voice like ice.
Luna moved swiftly, leaping into the air and delivering a powerful kick to Jerome's stomach.
Thud. Jerome fell to the ground, staring at Luna in terror.
