Bye-bye Trash! Hello Queen! novel Chapter 268

"The Spencer family has been negotiating a major overseas deal," Marshall continued. "The contract was supposed to be signed today, but when my dad arrived, the other party was hesitant."

Natalie shot to her feet. "Marshall, tell your dad to get back here immediately. He's in danger. If I'm right, your family's bottom line has been leaked. They're never going to sign that contract."

"But—"

"No buts! What's more important, a business deal or his life?"

A memory struck Natalie with the force of a physical blow. In her past life, right after Jerome's accident, the Spencer family had also suffered a tragedy. Marshall's father had died in an accident, and the shock had broken his grandmother. Within months, their company was swallowed by an overseas corporation, and Marshall himself had met a brutal end. The company had eventually ended up in Joanna's hands.

Ten years later, Joanna had become a powerhouse even Sebastian had to look up to. Not because she was brilliant, but because she was a master at leveraging the people around her to climb higher and higher. Just like now, getting Sebastian to fund her movie.

"Natalie, I have to go. I need to call my dad right now," Marshall said urgently. He knew if anything happened to his father, his grandmother wouldn't be able to handle the blow. In her eyes, he wasn't ready to lead the Spencer family. And if it weren't for Natalie, he'd still be nothing more than a spoiled playboy.

"Okay, Marshall. Go handle it. Call me if you need anything."

After Marshall hung up, Natalie looked at Queena, who was shaking her head slowly. Natalie's heart clenched.

"It's his fated calamity," Queena said softly. "It can't be avoided."

"Quickly, there's no time," Queena said to Marshall. "Bring me a photo of your father."

Marshall rushed off and returned a minute later with a photograph. Queena took it and went into a separate room alone, and no one dared to disturb her. The tension in the house was thick. Marshall paced, unable to reach his father, while his grandmother sat frozen with worry.

Natalie sat beside the old woman, taking her frail hand. She saw the fear of a mother for her child in the woman's tear-filled eyes. "Grandma, don't worry," she soothed. "Queena knows what she's doing. She's the real deal."

Mrs. Spencer Sr. just nodded, unable to speak.

A moment later, Marshall hung up his phone again, defeated. Natalie asked, "Still no luck?"
