Blue Hospital was her strongest support, her final hope. Her company was thriving, and she needed to protect her assets. She helped Luna to the car.
Luna saw Sebastian, and her expression turned icy. “What is he doing here? He’s the one who brought people to frame Marshall.” Luna’s eyes, practically burning with hatred, were fixed on Sebastian.
“It’s okay,” Natalie soothed her. “Just pretend he’s not here.”
Sebastian turned to Luna. “Hey, I never did anything to you. Why are you so hostile towards me?”
“Because you’re a bastard!” Luna shot back without hesitation.
Sebastian frowned but said nothing more. No matter how much he tried to clear his name, he would always be the villain in their eyes.
Natalie drove back toward the city and stopped at the nearest hospital, turning to Sebastian. “Mr. Griffith, this is a safe area. You can get a cab from here. I need to take Luna to get checked out.”
Sebastian froze. He remembered doing the exact same thing to her once, leaving her on the side of the road when he had to rush to Joanna. The feeling was just as awful as he’d imagined. “I’ll go with you,” he offered in a low voice.
Natalie shook her head. “No, thank you. You once said I was healthier than Joanna, that I could handle anything. Joanna is your delicate first love. Go be with her. Besides, Luna gets angry just seeing you.”
He ignored her sarcasm, genuinely confused. “What on earth did you tell her about me to make her hate me so much?”
Natalie let out a bitter laugh. “Mr. Griffith, I’m not a gossip. Luna hates you because she was the one who investigated everything you and Joanna did to me. She knows the truth, perhaps even better than I do. She has her reasons.”
Sebastian was speechless. So that was why.
He watched as Natalie helped Luna into the hospital, then called Sean to pick him up. He still had an urgent meeting to attend tonight.
Standing by the road, Sebastian thought about the evening's events. Joanna's move had been brilliant—a single stone that hit two birds. She had gotten Marshall arrested and made Natalie hate Sebastian even more. That woman was truly something else.
[Sweetheart, I’m having a great time here. I think I’ll stay for another month before coming back. Take good care of yourself at home.]
Natalie: [Have fun, grandpa. I’m busy here fighting off all sorts of villains. It’s quite interesting.]
[Good! My Natty is finally all grown up. Natty, do whatever you feel you need to do. I will always support you.]
His message filled her with warmth.
[Thanks!]
Natalie smiled happily.
Just then, a commotion from down the hallway caught her attention. She stood up to see what was happening. In the dimly lit corridor, two doctors stood against a wall while a young man knelt on the floor before them. It was too far to see his face clearly. Curious, Natalie walked closer and heard the boy’s anguished plea: “Doctor, please, I’m begging you, save my grandmother. She’s the only family I have. Please, save her. I promise I’ll get the money for the surgery tomorrow. Please, just save my grandma.”
