Ian also knew Natalie was worried Joanna would try something.
And Natalie was right. The next day, a woman disguised as a nurse entered Ian's grandmother's room.
Just as she was about to unplug the oxygen tube, Ian burst in and stopped her.
The woman fled in a panic. Herbert, who was arriving to change the medication, saw the woman running away frantically.
Horrified, Herbert didn't have time to stop the woman. He rushed to check on Ian's grandmother.
Her oxygen mask had been removed, but otherwise, she was fine.
"That scared me to death. If that oxygen mask had been off for ten minutes, your grandmother would have been gone."
Herbert clutched his chest. Natalie had been right.
"Kid, until your grandmother wakes up, you can't leave this room for a single step. I'll have food and supplies sent in. Call me immediately if anything happens with her. Tomorrow is the last day. Once we get through tomorrow, she'll be fine."
Ian's eyes darkened. "Okay, Dr. Herbert. Thank you."
"Don't mention it. Just doing my job." It had been a close call. Herbert left slowly, his legs weak with fear of a medical incident.
Ian looked at his grandmother's peaceful face and breathed a sigh of relief.
He whispered, "Grandma, you're going to be okay."
Joanna, what she couldn't have, she would destroy. He would get his revenge.
Natalie received a message from Ian, telling her someone had tried to unplug his grandmother's oxygen.
Natalie told him not to leave the hospital room.
Meanwhile, Joanna knew that after this failed attempt, another opportunity would be hard to come by.
She looked at Horace, her eyes cold. "Besides him, can you find any other kids?"
