Joanna bristled at his words. She had disliked Sean for a while now; he was always taking Natalie’s side.
Sebastian was a naturally suspicious person. Joanna adopted a wounded tone. “Sean, what did Natalie offer you to make you defend her like this? You’re always looking out for her. Or is there something going on between you two? Why else would you have been on Natalie’s side from the very beginning?”
Sebastian’s brow furrowed as he looked at Sean. She had a point. Sean had been defending Natalie from the start.
Sean saw Sebastian’s expression and knew his boss’s suspicious nature would lead him to doubt him.
“Ms. Scott, are you trying to drive a wedge between me and the CEO now? I have no relationship with Ms. Sanders. I just can’t stand your maliciousness.” He frowned slightly, his heart aching at Sebastian's suspicious gaze.
Sebastian doubted him. Tsk, he was starting to resent Sebastian himself. Natalie was the only one willing to love him, yet he had pushed that person away.
Joanna was furious. Her maliciousness? Sean hadn’t even begun to experience her true malice.
She looked even more hurt. “Sean, I’m just surprised. Why do you always side with Natalie? Was I wrong about what happened today? It was clearly Natalie who helped Susan ruin my brother’s wedding.”
“Besides, all that other stuff was just minor squabbles between women. Don’t you men have your own rivalries? Natalie is just a sore loser who blames me for everything.”
Sean said nothing. He didn’t want to say any more.
He was paid to do a job. If Sebastian didn’t want to believe him, he would just keep his mouth shut.
Sebastian remained silent, opened the car door, and got in.
Sean got into the driver’s seat and drove away.
Joanna watched Sebastian’s car disappear, her eyes filled with a dark gloom. Sebastian, you promised you would marry me. Don’t even think about getting rid of me.
But she had a growing feeling that she was losing her grip on him.
If it came down to it, she would have to use other methods to make Sebastian do her bidding.
Joanna’s eyes narrowed. It seemed she had to speed up her plans.
Those two old fools in the Griffith family had outlived their usefulness.
And Sebastian needed to start hating Natalie for good.
