Natalie furrowed her brow and shook her head. "Does he need to feel guilty? Cheating is cheating. All I can do is wish them an eternity together. I'm a very magnanimous first wife, you see."
Natalie gazed out at the sea, where a beautiful crescent moon hung in the sky.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
In such a beautiful world, she was determined to live well.
The smile on Natalie's face was brilliant and captivating, a picture of stunning grace.
"Susan, things will get better for us."
Natalie glanced sideways at Susan.
In her friend's eyes, Susan saw a boundless hope for the future, a light that seemed to illuminate her own heart.
"Yeah!" Susan excitedly linked her arm with Natalie's, and they walked toward the beach.
She took Natalie to have barbecue by the sea.
The grilled oysters were especially delicious, and the griddled squid was incredibly tender.
After they finished eating, Natalie got an order to go for a late-night snack.
She was feeling inspired today and wanted to work on her design sketches when she got back.
But she had a habit at night; when she was alone, perhaps out of loneliness, she would always look for something to eat.
They started walking back. The path led through a coconut grove where the streetlights were dim, making it hard to see the way clearly.
Susan tried to comfort Natalie. "Natalie, there are plenty of fish in the sea. So what if Sebastian is gone? You can find a much better man."
"And another thing, you should stop going after Sebastian. You're so beautiful, he doesn't deserve you."
Natalie smiled. Deep down, she now felt a strong aversion to Sebastian.
