Natalie took her grandmother's hand. "Grandma, I have to meet a client tonight. I'll come back to stay with you in a few days when I have time. Now that you're here alone and Grandpa isn't home, you need to be careful."
The old woman nodded, a hint of disappointment in her eyes. It was rare to find someone who treated her with genuine affection, and she was very fond of Natalie.
"Natalie, they still haven't found the person who poisoned Edith. Sigh, she's had such a bitter life."
"When she married into the Griffith family, I never gave her a hard time. I treated her like my own daughter. But the things Timothy did made her hate our family with a vengeance."
Thinking of Edith weighed heavily on her heart.
She didn't know what tempests the future held.
Her poor grandson could be devoured by those illegitimate children at any moment.
Natalie comforted her in a low voice, "Grandma, Edith is a good person, and fortune will favor her. She is doing well now. She has always understood your good intentions. Her only misfortune was falling in love with Timothy, which is why she was hurt so deeply."
Natalie knew the whole story—things even Sebastian was unaware of.
He was treating his enemy like a benefactor, and there was nothing she could say about it.
But the time wasn't right yet. She had to wait.
The old woman sighed. She was getting old and couldn't protect Sebastian forever. The only thing she could do now was to help him mature as quickly as possible.
"Natalie, Grandma needs to rest for a while." The old woman felt weary.
Natalie replied, "Okay, Grandma. You might feel a bit tired these next few days, so please get plenty of rest. I'll come see you again the day after tomorrow when I have time."
"Alright. Grandma will be waiting for you."
She said this lovingly, then closed her eyes to rest.
Natalie tucked her in before quietly leaving the room.
She closed the door, went downstairs, and saw Sebastian in the living room. His tall, imposing figure seemed to fill the spacious, bright hall with a sense of pressure.
