Natalie smiled. “Alright.”

Colin stared blankly at Natalie’s retreating figure, his eyes filled with simmering rage.

“Natalie, do you think you can drive a wedge between me and Joanna? You were the one who caused their accidents, and now you dare to frame Joanna for it?”

Colin was furious, but mostly at his own incompetence. He hadn't been able to teach Natalie a lesson and get revenge for Joanna.

He slowly sat up from the ground, taking a deep breath to ease the pain in his body.

Just then, his phone rang. It was Joanna. A wave of disappointment washed over him; he had failed to get that plot of land for her.

“Hello? Joanna, I’m so sorry. I couldn't get that land for you.”

His voice was heavy with disappointment and apology.

He wasn’t sure why he felt so dejected, but he felt he had let Joanna down.

Joanna laughed softly. “Colin, it’s alright. I’ll be back in three days. Could you introduce me to Mr. Woodard? He has another piece of land, and I’d like to buy that one instead. Its market value should be even better than Natalie’s plot.”

“Besides, if Natalie likes that land, just let her have it. You know how it is, ever since she came back, she’s competed with me for everything, even the man I love most. I can’t win against her, so I have to settle for second best.”
